Don't botch the glass work up to hell and back and that'll end up being a damn good looking boat
I really like the big wide gunnel on it. Oughta be a dry ride.

Putty and Paint will make a Sinner a Saint… atleast that’s what Morejohn says lol.
But yeah always a have a little something in the back of my head that makes me nervous about the lamination but hopefully I can pull some help from guys local and miss most of the learning mistakes.
Everything I have heard and some of the running videos I have seen show this boat to take bay chop very well all things considered.

This is a beautiful project. Are you going to install through-hull fittings before you glass or after?
Posted on 8/28/23 at 11:00 am to TBoy
Will drill after. And glass in an insert to go through the foam

Thanks for the breakdown of material. I don't do insta, so your breakdown here is great.
For clarification, you bought 15 sheets of H-80 3/4" from Merritt for $2,750? That a package deal?

Yeep that was shipped to the plant which allowed them to put on a truck. Delivery to house may cost a little more for shipping.
I would take a quote and go to glassman and see if he can work with you. I didn’t realize who he was when I was talking to him on the phone when he was quoting me. Who knows maybe he can’t improve on it.

Wow. Merritt's webpage lists >$300/sheet.

Yeah give them a call for a quote by the case. The price per sheet individually is brutal

Give me an idea of your skill level, I can’t cut two boards the same length. Ya think I could build a work of art like you have going on?
I’m pretty good with a sander??

I mean I would say I can keep up with most above average diy framers but in no way pro framers.
Beginner level carpenters or woodworkers would put me to shame

Took a night off and met up with one of the first guys to build these boats to crawl around her and pick his brain.
Man she is beautiful. Reinvigorates me to make sure she’s perfect.
His is about 6” shorter and no tunnel obviously but have me a good feel for size and some good ideas for how to fit her out.

Not sure where you are located, but there is a guy in Raceland who is building the same boat. I think he is about to start painting the bottom. if you are in the BR area its not a far drive to go look and pick his brain. I can send his Gram handle if your interested.
Also, have you thought about how your back compartments will be laid out? Its interesting to see the different layouts and why.

Forgive my ignorance, but is what I’m looking at a male mold for the glass, or does it end up as part of the structure with glass on both sides?

When is your design going to be built?

Whenever I get off my arse and finish it. I’ve been working on it here and there. I’m running CFD and various other calcs on the hull to make sure I get it perfect before I start building one.

Man she is beautiful.
Also, that style of deck surface is awesome. MyTriton intercoastal has that sand increased in gel coat. Easy to clean and the traction is off the hook. Rough on the knees and the feet but sitting instead kneeling becomes instinct and feet toughen up after the first few trips of warm weather
Cool project. Keep the updates coming. Know what I’ll be watching on YouTube at work tonight, my interest is piqued

Back compartment is likely going to be two hatches on either side and a middle hatch that is over the tunnel with a small livewell.
The two hatches on the side will just open into the dry bridge. The boat I looked at that last night was like this and I impressed how much storage he had and how little issue he had with water getting in there.
