First, thanks for posting this. I enjoy podcast, but rarely listen to them for some reason. I think he nailed it when he said he thinks they went after him because he often says he's not a hunter, he's a killer. He also tells people he doesn't hire guides that are hunters, he hires guides that are killers. It's hard for me to imagine people growing up in the outdoors not respecting wildlife, but these people do exist. There is also nothing illegal about it as long as they follow limits, etc. I think the wardens overreached in this case because they don't like this mentality in hunters. My personal hope is that the wardens learn as much from this experience as it appears the guide did.

In the podcast, they reference another sting on another outfitter where the agents have blanks in their guns. The guide is essentially killing all the ducks unbeknownst to him. Then they bust him for shooting over the limit even though the blind is not over the limit. Essentially going after party hunting, which everyone does.

This is some serious BS here. My son and I use a guide service during teal/duck season and sometimes it's hard to tell who killed what when the shooting is fast and furious. I figured we'd be okay as long as we left the blind with a three-man limit. Apparently not.

That's the kind of stuff that develops distrust of law enforcement and government in general. It seems to me that kind of bs should be illegal. Entrapment or something.

I know of one doing the bag of hair thing from Four Brothers to someone who doesn't even drive over the speed limit or leave the house if his inspection sticker is close to expiring. That kind of shite is frustrating. Some of them are great, some are complete assholes.

You are right, I made an absolute statement. Sorry, should have said lots of hunters do it instead of everyone.

Most responsible hunters would say they don't party hunt and are fooling themselves. If you have ever been in a blind with 3 other people and not known exactly which duck you killed on a volley of shots, then you have done it if you continued on to a limit for the entire blind. We are responsible hunters and it happens. If you haven't, then good for you.

I have a friend who was given four tickets by Houston PD for running four stop signs when he was in high school. He took it to court under the premise the cop should have stopped him after the first one instead of waiting until he ran multiple signs. The judge agreed with him dismissed all four tickets. However, he wasn't so lucky when he got popped for hunting doves off GSRI Road with an unplugged gun.

We got set up once dove hunting, even though the field was tampered within the time frame you shouldn't tamper with it. The field was planted with millet and right before the no tamper period a tropical storm came through and they stuck the tractor. When they could they were in the no tamper time, and the GW were watching the field. Come opening day we are out there in the field and what looks like a president's convoy of SUV's come rolling down the road to the entrance to the field. They converge on us, check our licenses, the field and move on Two hours later, in come the fed's. The first group were state, they set the pins up for the feds to take us down. We were told to meet in the middle of the field and get out your licenses. The owner of the field and his foreman took the rap and were fined and probation from hunting for a year. Funny thing was the foreman while doing his job, checking on livestock and such, run into a plain closed GW checking the field. He had to cross private property to get there instead of coming in the only gate to the field. The foreman asked him what he was doing? The plain closed GW said he was doing work for an oil company in the area, and the foreman told us this before we hunted. They (GW) were hoping we would shoot over out limits thinking we were already checked earlier, and probably would have but they checked us too soon. We ended up hunting the field two weeks later and limited out. No one was taking a chance, hot field.

I'm not going to say I've waterfowl hunted a ton compared to most guys on here that hunt a lot, but I've hunted plenty, in many states, with many guys. I can't think of maybe but once or twice outside of when women or kids or a new guy or something else where the blind wanted to allow a particular person that was likely new to hunting shoot the last bird, that a blind I was in did not "party hunt" until the blind limit was reached.

I can't think of the last time the blind said "johnny has 4, jimmy has 3, and boudraux is done". Its always, and I mean always, we have 12 so 3 birds left.

Same thing for fishing, shiiit. I can't imagine wardens making everyone count out their fish....

Back in the day hunted the wax and got checked by green jeans on way back on the water. We had a 4 man limit, GJ asked who killed what .... so one of us made 4 piles w the right number and species in each pile. Then said this pile is Jimmy's, this one bob, this one ray and last one mark. GJ said u sure we said yep, he wasn't happy so checked everything. It was dark he was a pita then let us go. I have nvr been on a waterfowl hunt where we know exactly who killed what bird .....

Then you and I run in completely different circles. It’s why you have two live wells or clip fins.
