My wife watched an eagle trying to nail a grebe on the lake. Little dude would watch the eagle coming then dive just before it got to him. After 3 tries the eagle was out.

As being a forester working in the woods all day alone, I have had the opportunity to see many acts of nature. While compassing a boundary line deep in the woods, a wood duck flew a few feet over my head with a red tail hawk 10 yards behind. That wood duck was doing some hollering. He was running for his life and he knew it. Another time I was just making my way through thick brush, all of a sudden a barred owl swoops in front of me and picks off a red cardinal that was in the brush about 3 steps in front of me. Another time I was sitting on a fallen tree trunk and a bob cat with a squirrel in his mouth walked in front of me. I could have reached out and touched him. When animals are hungry, It’s all that matters.

Just last weekend we had a hawk attack a grey duck as it was trying to lite in the decoys. The duck was quacking like crazy. I've been hunting a long time and never witnessed anything like that. It was really interesting to see.

*We finished the job for the hawk.

Last year while duck hunting in the marsh I saw a little hawk hit a black bird in mid air, latch onto it and then hover with its feet in the water keeping the black bird under water to drown it

I always thought Robins were kinda dimwits who just foraged around on the ground for food. We had the biggest cicada hatch I’ve ever seen a few years ago. I was out in the yard one day and caught motion out of the corner of my eye. A Robin came flying down my driveway traveling faster than I knew they were capable and snagged a cicada out of midair. Cicada was moving right along but the Robin ruined its day.

That is so interesting. It’s good that those wardens are not writing people up for those simple transgressions and are explaining the situation to you. That’s what a responsible warden should do. Just educate the public because most times it’s an innocent mistake. Great stories you shared there! Thanks
