re: Have you ever felt guilty killing an innocent animal?

I have switched to the heart stop method. The rib cage of birds, even ducks, is soft. Find the beating heart and squeeze like hell until it stops.

My point was, if you're pulling the trigger or commanding somebody else to pull the trigger, how is the result on his hands any more than yours? You were still the one who made the decision that something was going to die...
First off, this isn't really a good argument since you cannot buy wild game in most cases. If we are now moving to more common meats, I have the feeling that if I became a vegan tomorrow, it would not save one animal. I would not impact the market enough for them to cut back. SO therefore, that piece of cow I pick up at the store has been dead and if I don't buy that roast, someone else will.

Boats i kinda feel heartless too after reading some of the other posts. I do a fair amount of trapping and it is definitly not for the faint of heart.

Fair enough.
Alx, I just grab the head and rip it off. Gotta tear it off when you clean em anyway.

hate sticky traps. My exterminator put some in my garage, didn't tell me, and I left the door open. A little bird (sparrow) flew in there and landed on it. When I found it, it was trembling and trying to get loose. I called every 24 hour vet in the book, and none were willing to look at it, and offered no advice. Finally, one told me to sprinkle a little baby powder on the glue and slowly pull it out. It died in my hands. I couldn't pull any of it out without breaking it apart. It died pretty quick, i think of fright. It's heart was pounding. poor thing.
frick glue traps.
We tried glue traps one time for mice. Wife comes home to an alive mouse and our 8 pound dog stuck to one. I get a call of my wife crying hysterically. I thought it was kind of funny.
I guess my dog got behind the cabinet where the mouse was and tried to get the mouse. His head got stuck on the trap adn then he tried to use his legs to push off and they got stuck, and the mouse was inches from his head, still alive.
We'll never use them again either.

I'm sure your wife was flipping out. What breed of little dog do ya'll have? I need to complete the mental image.

I put some of the larger rat sized ones in my attic at my last house. One evening while watching TV, we heard what sounded like gymnastics going on up there. I hurried up to the attic. The trap had some fur and one turd on it

I shot a doe with a yearling on the last day of rifle season one time. As she lay there, te yearling just stood over it hitting her with its nose trying to wake her. Some real life Bambi shite.

Yep. Dog once. Turned out to be some kids pet and the fallout was awful. Happened over 25 years ago, never will make that mistake again.
