Man this is the start of my favorite time of the year. Got a dozer coming in tomorrow to clean up the Senderos on a new place I bought back in July.

Plan on moving a blind and feeder and setting up one more setup while I’m down. Hope to shoot a few doves while I’m down and have a couple afternoon sits to see if the bucks are moving.

I’ll try and upload some progress pics and buck pics if any show up.

Where is the new place? I’m guessing brush country if you’re cutting senderos

My brother has a place in Alice that’s 105 acres. He leases it to a farmer so the farmer lets us dove hunt and thermal hog hunt the rest. Pretty good deal.

You aren’t far from my dads lease. He’s just south of sarita.

I need to get down there soon. Running low on nilgai sausage

I’ve seen a few cows on cam but they should start heating up between November and Feb on our place.

Last time I went down in late January and I had never seen so many nilgai. Running in big packs all over the place.

Yeah that’s how they get on our place around that time of year.

Heading down in two weeks to our place In Refugio Co. Clean up the senderos and fill the feeders. May shoot a few doves or a hog. Never seen any nilgai but I hear they are in the county.

Went to the king ranch in 2022 after reading a nilgai thread on the OB. It was awesome. Much more fun and challenging to me than whitetail hunts. Happy to shoot some nilgai for you if you need some harvested. Also the guide said Jan -Feb is their rut.

Hopefully your trip goes better than mine.

I’m not getting any of the shite I needed to get done. Got here and had to dig a 30 foot trench and rewire the down hole well pump and pressure pump for the house

I’m whooped so taking a break and mat try some bird hunting this afternoon.

Got a new blind and feeder setup on the new property. Dozer work may take a lot more money than I thought because it’s so grown up and slow going.

I may need to spend the next few weekends down there.

Sooo, you're a pimp?

Or industrial products? Just curious, as I am jealous of all your South Texas hunting lol. I sit inside all day seeing sore throats in Urgent Care and try to convince myself that it is pretty easy work. But the truth is, i wish I had spent the same amount of years climbing the ladder in the Gulf coast industry instead of health care.

So much of that picture reminds me of my time in the early 90s clearing senderos and areas for feeder pins. Sweating my nuts off, ears ringing from the dozer, back aching from those feeder pins. It was totally worth it but man those days in late HS and early college sucked. We all agreed to only killing does and spikes for several years which made it suck even more. The white cans were the only thing that made me go back for quite a while.

We're a good ways north of you but similar landscape.

I work for a Fortune 500 company. Been there 22 years and get 5 weeks of vacation. Plus I’ve only got to be somewhere a couple hrs a week for a meeting at the office so the rest of the time I work remote. As long as I’m producing at a high level they don’t give a shite what I do.

My plan was always to get back to Texas so I could be close to my ranch and my family’s farm. Cut my drive from 9 hrs to 4.5 hrs when I moved from BR to Spring, it makes a big difference.

Yeah it’s a shite load of work??. We’ve only got 540 acres and I’m constantly spraying, running a pole saw, bush hogging, and dicking with feeders. Couldn’t imagine have several thousand acres but our ranch is pretty wide open and I can drive my F250 around the entire place with scratching it up.

Here’s another Sendero
