Nah, this is me. I get excited every season because for the 2 muzzleloader weekends the rut is on and they move like idiots and I've run into one or a few the past 6 years or whatever. It's enough to make me forget that from Thanksgiving to the end of the season, first weekend of January, I pretty much never see anything. I've tried 4 new spots this year, haven't seen shite. But here I am again, got out here early in the freezing, climbed and waiting. Public land post rut is hard. By next November I will have forgotten this and will be excited again though.

Your answer is to follow the rut.

No doubt... Need to get back to central Alabama in January where I've killed my biggest ones. It's just far and after holidays.

I've had a big boy pop up on camera all morning at one stand. I can't get out there until Thursday

Buck hunt
Maurepas swamp wma
53 degrees, sunny with 10 mph northwest winds
Beretta A400 full choke with 3” 000 buck

Just got settled against a cypress tree on a small island surrounded by knee deep swamp. Can only see about 50 yards in every direction but from what I can tell, the deer have been using this island often. Tracks and crap everywhere, should be some traffic right before dark if this wind dies. Good luck to everyone out this afternoon.

Wish this site had a better way to post images.

Dropped a really nice 6pt with .35 Whelen this morning. Doe came by and fed a little while and within 10 minutes a young 4pt and the 6pt showed up.
