Where can you buy worms/crickets near Lake Concordia , coming from Baton Rouge?

There’s a bait shop across from the mall in Natchez.

Sportsman's Lodge has some during peak months. Call ahead.
Other than that, Joe Bobs in Natchez across from the old mall. Chat him up a little and he will give you some solid reports.

many moons ago, but I used to do well in the trees anywhere there was a small hole in the grass against one.

Get a 10 ft cane pole
put about 3 ft of line on end
rebel Pop R
find cypress trees with limsbs hanging low to the water
stick the pole all the way under them close to the trunk
work it back and forth
Wise fisherman said once, forget catching them how you want to catch them. Sometimes you have to catch them the way they want to be caught.
