How long will it take them to go nocturnal during hunting season ?

So $75 to apply?
Yeah, you get a preference point if you don’t get picked too. And you have to attend 1 of 2 courses in November. I’d probably apply if it weren’t for the courses being held while I’m hunting out of state.

Meanwhile black bears are destroying everyone's shite in Spring Bayou and you can't even look at them angrily or four LDWF trucks will drive up in your yard to investigate your expression.

I’m confused about buying the bear license. Do you have to purchase that prior to the lottery? That’s how I read it

Not that it matters but does bear meat taste good? I’ve heard many folks say it doesn’t.

Do you still have to buy the black bear license even if you have a lifetime license?

I’ve heard several people describe it as a greasy chuck roast. I’ve never been told that it is “good.”
Can’t you donate the meat to Hunters for the Hungry?

One of my buddies shot one in Arkansas a few years ago and gave me a roast. It was pretty damn good.
I hope this goes well and folks don't find some way to screw it up. I'd love to one day have a reasonable chance of hunting bears in Louisiana.

You have to buy a bear hunting license for $25 before you can apply. Then you have to pay a $50 application fee. So $75 will get you in the running for one of 10 licenses. If you don't hit the lotto you're out $75. The good news is you get preference points for applying. The bad news is if you don't fork up the $75 next year you lose them. And my guess is they already know who is going to get drawn anyway. This is going to be the most Louisiana bear season ever!

This part is BS. They should require the bear license AFTER you’ve been drawn. The LDWF is just being greedy with this decision

Great. Now do the Atchafalaya, all the way down to St. Mary.
