That's definitely a factor in my decision. The tractor will live around Baton Rouge, so I have 2 Kubota dealers within 20-30 min and a mahindra around the same.

Also, you can buy in MS and save sales tax. When you're spending 30k it's a big savings. Since you know people at the dealers near you, you can probably get by with only paying the parish tax if they can tie it to a farm.

That is a slight concern for me too, but when I am cutting where I hunt the cab will be a game changer. Also I have young kiddos so there’s some value to the peace of mind having them in a cab with me instead of open rops.

Already thought about that too. I have a camp in BSL that needs a lot of “tractor” work. Or like you said buying from MS with home base in LA.

I have always had Ford/New Holland tractors. I bought a Kioti 45HP two years ago and absolutely LOVE it.

It's quiet, efficient and strong as hell. Engines are made by same company that makes the Bobcat engines. A South Korean product.

I would go Kioti over Mahindra. Everyone I know that has a Mahindra hates it. The only thing Mahindra has is weight. Well frick, you can always add weight. And I guess the DPF thing, but their DOC is always hot, so to me it's a wash.

But I'd go Kubota for a CUT, and all I own is JD green.

2 years with no issues is legit, but I’m also thinking about 10 years from now. Trying to get something that matches the lifespan of my Farmall Cub, that was my great grandfathers! I still think if I go orange it will be the Ol Kubota, which my grandpa has two that are 20+ years old.

New Tractor Recs

Get a Kubota. I have a 2013 L4600. It was the last year before all the new emission shite. You may want to see if you could find a 2013 or 2012 with 300-400 hrs on it. Love mine and wouldn’t hesitate to buy again.

I'm retiring next year and getting a Kubota 4760 cab. Have 33 acres around the house in Alabama, plus 18 or so food plot acres. Besides the usual box blade, brush hog, front loader set up I'm going to get a grapple and rotary tiller.

My question is, does anyone have any strong feelings about trailers for a rig that size?

I’m going to go with a 20’ bumper pull, should have enough room for tractor w loader, and a bushhog behind it.

I bought a kubota 3902 last year for land upkeep. No issues whatsoever. I did not go with a cab because I do use it in the woods on my property. Something to consider if ur getting into tight spots.

Same here. I love my 3902. It's been great. No cab though.

They could give a frick about the utility tractor market, or the customers who inhabit said market.

Yep I had already bought my kubota before the salesman ever got back to me from Deere.

ETA: bought a 4701 4x4 hst 6-1/2 years old now and not one single problem

I'm a fan of 24' gooseneck trailers. Lots of utility with something that size beyond just the tractor.

I have a Kubota MX5100DT with a loader. I pull it with a 22ft tandem bumper pull and it handles it fine. It has 2 -7k axles with brakes on one axle . The tractor, loader, and 6ft woods bushhog take up the entire trailer . I wouldn’t want anything smaller and will likely get a gooseneck in the spring.

My Deere 5075e with loader and 7’ bush hog would fit on a 24’ I think but nothing smaller.
