That's already been done. It's infringed by the mere existence of Class III regulations.

The law states that we can "bear" "assault rifles" but have to jump through hoops to get them. I agree that it does not coincide with the constitution of the US

+1 world would be a better place if everyone minded their own damn business.

I find the mindset of anyone ok with cc but getting their panties in a bunch with a guy walking around with a rifle strapped to his back remarkably stupid. You see a guy heading towards you with a rifle you can walk away, or run if need be. You dont know the guy with a pistol in his pants is armed until its too late. According to the UCI 98% of the time the guy that tries to kill you is the guy with the pistol, not the guy with the rifle.

Of course it's a right. Do whatever you want. I'm also allowed to call somebody who is open carrying a modern musket a dumbass.

Gotta agree once again with Hypnos and the like.

Shall Not Be Infringed.

Would I walk around downtown with my AR? No. I don't need to, don't need the hassle, and agree that it's just being done at this point to freak people out which doesn't help our image. Should that mean that it's OK for that person exercising that right now has marked himself for government harassment? No.

Do I mind the cops asking him what he's doing? No. That's their job. But when they go all felony stop on a guy who's doing absolutely nothing other than walking about with a gun on him... frick DA POLICE.

I'm sorry but most of these situations aren't that bad until the cop shows up and makes it that way. If the dude's 'brandishing' and 'threatening' etc... yeah, you've got a reason for concern and should do everything you need to do to protect yourself and the public till you get that guy safed. Just realize that simply because some dumb old bitch called the cops because some guy had an AR within her sight is not reason enough to trample his rights, and ultimately, makes the cops look worse and alienates you from the public you supposedly wish to serve even more.

I wish this wasn't the case, but wish in one hand and etc etc...

Speaking of, did you hear about the dude who mailed a poison substance to the president's office? That absolutely tarnishes our image.

you are right...only police should be allowed to carry any weapon openly...they are much better than the rest of us lowly subjects...

I'm glad my brother and all the rest of the LEO's I know don't feel the same way you do...

I guy walking down a street with a loaded AR is a bad situation.

I don't care if its his right or not. He's stupid and stupid people are bad situations.

Here's my thoughts even though no one asked. Unfortunate with everything that has happened over the last few years people are going to be leery of someone walking down the street with a black rifle. Yes people are ignorant and they don't know that people legally have the right to carry one ever how they wish.

The idiots with the gun need to practice a little common sense. I said it earlier, their one and only goal was to get a rise out of some police officer. That's it.

If he was walking down the street with a loaded Benjamin on his back I'd still call him stupid. The type of gun has nothing to do with it in my eyes.

Yup. The only reason to walk around publicly with an AR is to start shite.

Not saying it should be illegal, just stupid so long as WW3/zombies isn't going on.

If I take my AR to work and use it to lift up skirts of my female coworkers and run the barrel up and down their cleavage, THEN is it an assault rifle?

So clarify if you are talking about whether you are OK with the police harassing someone doing this...

Want more laws so that's impossible to do without police involvement because you believe it's wrong...

Or do you acknowledge that this is a legal activity and thus no matter how stupid it is, the government should not be allowed to come down on it because of your ever so tender feelings about it's perception with the perpetually ignorant public?

I have no problem with police stopping and asking a few questions to see whats going on. So long as they don't charge you with anything or detain you for it.

If you feel you need to carry an AR with you where you're walking you'll probably want the police near you anyway.

I agree. But a lot of these idiots are doing it to be provocative with the police.

And while I can't agree with that as a personal decision, that is their right.

Period.

I love that people are "provoking" the cops (without breaking a single law, imagine that) documenting their ignorance of the law and abuses of power and putting it out there for the world to see. We need some activists on our side. Hopefully they have attorneys on speed dial.

It's a shame it's all so shocking, but that's where we are.
