Call then number on the ticket. Tell them you want to know the fine and you want to see what you have to do to get or reduced to a non moving. You may have to go in to court...you might just have to send a letter. One parish back in the day told me just to send a letter asking to have it reduced. No reason or long explanation...just one line requesting it with a check. Got a reciept a few weeks later.

Honestly the state should be responsible because nobody should have to stop in the left lane to make a turn on a busy highway. Hard to believe that they haven't fixed that shite. Regardless, if I had to make a left turn there if there was traffic coming I would probably just pull in the median on the side and shoot across all the lanes once traffic opens up.
Grew up there. I personally know 6 people hit in the arse end waiting to turn left. Most recent was a buddy, that killed my cousin. State doesn't care.

Reduction is out; Livonia thrives off of ticket money on that hwy and has for decades. Well known trap area, and I bet a dollar to a donut hole that bag over the speed limit sign was because they deem that area a construction zone short term, and your gonna pay double. However I do feel a call to the DA office or sheriff could get the fine withheld from your permanent record or assessed as a seatbelt violation (non-moving). But you will pay the full amount I'll guarantee that.

Called them today and all they want is a check and a letter to keep it off my record. Easy enough.

My wife got one a few years back. Showed up on the court date at the designated location. 5 minutes after the start time, someone walked in and said "anyone wishing to have their speeding ticket moved to a non-moving violation, come line up here". All but 2 people stood up, got in line, paid their $250 cash, and moved on with their life. Maybe you can pay it online now, but yeah they just want their money. It shouldn't hit your record.
was this in livonia?
I just got popped there for doing 72 in a 55. I'll pay the fine, I just don't want it on my record
Anyone have any recent experience in Livonia regarding this?

In La. there is a thing called Article 894. When you pay the ticket just tell them you want to plead Article 894 and it will not go on your record.
quote:
When you enter an 894 plea, you are pleading guilty to the accused offense and will have to pay the cost of the ticket. However, if the plea is accepted and you do not receive another traffic ticket for the next 30 days, you can have the ticket expunged, which means it will not be reported to your insurance company

Do I have any chance of having it reduced if I show up for court or is this such a money maker they don’t reduce anything

Give that ticket to Ricky Ward and tell him to handle it.

Speeding Ticket in Livonia

Everyone knows that travels the area from BTR to I-49.
Once in a blue moon in the candlelight strip area right across the Old Miss River Bridge.
If you take LA-415 to 190 sometimes they hide in the curve under 190 to get on 190 going West.
Erwinville - East and West
Livonia
Krotz Spring - slow down when get to the bridge as they sit shooting radar when you come over.
Or
Coming into town from Port Barre.
Port Barre
Once in a blue moon state troopers right before I-49.

OP must have been doing +10mph or over speed limit.
State legislature passed a new law several years ago that the State gets to keep any fines @ 10mph or less - - - and the City got to keep any fines of +10mph or over. This was done to curb cities from speed trapping.
Now you can go +9mph over and Lavonia don't give a shite cause they don't get any revenue from writing you a ticket - or the cop just lies and says he radared you at +10.

Slow the frick down. People drive 190 like it’s the interstate. It is not. There are people stopped in the fast lane trying to make left hand turns because of no turning lanes. Fatalities every other week or so.
The design of US 190 between LA1 in Pointe Coupee into Port Barre is pretty horrendous. That center divider with no left turn lane, but gaps to facilitate left turns is pretty dangerous.

I got one in Livonia before. I went to the court appearance and they reduced it down to a non moving violation. Bring cash with you.

I slowed to 5mph under the limit as I approached Krotz Springs only to have a PoS meth head tattoo’d cop pull me over and write me a ticket for doing 16mph over. He was hiding in the Chase bank parking lot. I went in raising hell at Chase and not a soul inside would comment on the cop.
BTW - the cop wasn’t even shooting radar or laser. Just sitting in his car with his radar OFF. I know this because I have an invisible detector that sniffs pigs literally a mile away.
Oh… and the judge is the chief of police.
They’re all filthy no good criminals all the way down highway 190. Call the number on the ticket and ask that they don’t put it on your record if you pay it, and they will make it so.

They will 100% reduce it. I got about 7 speeding tickets when I was young and dumb going back and forth to shreveport.
Call the number on the back and you will get the DA’s office. They may ask you to take an online defensive driving or you just write a letter stating you don’t mind paying the fine but ask that the ticket not affect your driving record or reduced to non-moving violation. Get written verification though, so you can show the insurance company/have proof “in case they forget.”

Dont waste a 894 on a speeding ticket. These towns just want the money and will reduce to nomoving

Unfortunately, US 190 is not a highway made for the high traffic similar to I-10.
If the state was smart they would try to make it into a interstate type highway with overpasses at each town.
Eventually, they will have to replace the I-10 bridge between BR and Laf.
Just the businesses are so close to the road they would have to be bought out.

The continual repavement over the years that now make the guardrail only come up about a foot in places adds a nice Louisiana touch too. It would be too easy to strip the asphalt and repave correctly, but alas that's not the Louisiana way is it?
