Buy low sell high?
What was the buy in 20-30-40 years ago? From a poors perspective its looks like musical chairs with deer.

Tara is 20,000 acs, what kind number would you guess it had on it?
IMO, it’s more like a syndicate than a share with those numbers.

Not sure it is that much any more. Halpino, Willow Point North and South are long gone. What I thought was the last of it is 6500 acres that is selling shares now. I wanna say Belle Island was recently for sale too.

Crazy numbers. When I hunted there 20 years ago it was all separate clubs on from the bridge to the river. The one I hunted was 460 acres and was 14-1500 a year. Your family could hunt also. My how things have changed. The common man doesn’t hunt on Togo anymore.

Hell Dub, the common man can only hunt pine timber nowadays!!
I know I can’t afford any decent lease or clubs along the river.

Went down the rabbit hole last night and found all of the various tracks/names. Ms Bryant died in 2011 so I would imagine her heirs liquidated her holdings over the years. Near impossible to cash flow those properties even with the prices they were charging.
Goes to show you that all good things eventually end.

Drones helped bust the illegal oystering in W Cove a couple years ago. Great tool to catch law breakers.

I did speak to a law enforcement officer who was familiar with the raid. Didn't pick up a lot more information other than the stories I heard when it happened. But some clarification:
It was Swamp Donkey -- the pay to hunt place -- not Togo that got busted.
The Togo guys don't bait. So some of them were a bit worn out with the idea that their neighbor did so very aggressively.
Feeders, cameras, and at least one cell phone was confiscated. Tickets were issued.
Some pay hunters were obviously upset by the disruption to their hunt.
That's about all I gleaned from the conversation.

this is my biggest problem with baiting. Not CWD, not "fairness" to the animal. It becomes a race for who can spend the most to keep and lure deer from the surrounding properties.
Spend a $1,000 on corn this season? Well your neighbor spend $10,000 on Premium Super Buck Mix Extra Good Deer Getter 5000.

I’m not familiar with those areas but is baiting really THAT useful along the Mississippi River? I would have thought there would be enough natural food supply that baiting would just be a small supplement?

It’s pretty obvious how shady that whole operation looks.
I heard there was some shady things going on at Togo the first few years it was a share camp though. I think they were kind of desperate to sell shares during the run of high water years. I heard they were baiting, and had a couple of high fences up to get what deer they had to funnel to the right spots to try to get some bucks on the ground to get some shares sold.
Also heard they had terrible trouble with trespassers coming in off the river.

Corn is the ultimate cheat code. It’s not a health supplement.

Website says $1,500 per man per day for squirrel hunts

I know a lot of the big clubs feed protein year around or close to it. I think he means thay more so than corn.

Well…I guess it’s like being at a buffet where you have choice of salad or ice cream…
