80 trout in 2 days fishing this weekend in Grand Isle. It was kind of windy though!

Wind didn’t let us out to go after trout in Venice. So took the kids to some clean water off the river. Caught green trout, fresh water cats, flounder and a pile of sheep head. Kids had a blast as did the dads.

Mytle Grove. Wind sucked. Fishing sucked. Marina had no live bait. Caught a bunch of hard heads and school trout. Never dirtied the ice.

Vermillion bay, windy and muddy water. Caught 3 keeper reds and a puppy drum.
Sick and tired of using 6.99 a pound half rotten IQF shrimp from Dagos. They fly off the hook on second cast. Vermillion bay has to be the shittiest place to get fresh shrimp on the coast of louisiana. If it aint inshore skrimp season, you cant get any.

My cousin caught 8 reds at the Cattle Guard last Sunday

Point aux Chene. Only caught 2 keepers before the wind picked up and bite died down, but any trip ending in flounder is a success in my book.

we usually go to one of the weirs in marsh island and try to catch shrimp with cast net before going fishing. hit or miss usually

Cattle Guard
That is where old man Gravois used to always fish. Always seemed to catch too.

fished grand isle area Thursday thru Saturday and did very well..
Thursday afternoon 40 2-4 lb trout, great time was had!
Friday started slow but found em at a spot stacked up ended up with 90 big trout with 4 of us, two of which have never done that before so it was awesome getting them on some quality fish.
decided to sleep in Saturday and started at 10, dodged the wind and caught 50 or so and kept 10, lots of small trout.
all in all great weekend.
OB cooler was maxed out, that’s the 100 qt too

Very nice, did you catch those off the beach or back in the bay?
Posted on 5/22/19 at 10:44 am to WHODAT514
Anyone on the isle or getting reports from there yet?
Posted on 5/22/19 at 10:56 am to SOLA
those were caught on the beach
as for reports they are still catching nice trout if you can get out, trout are being caught east and behind the island as well.

Visited the inlaws and pulled my Uncle J and 25 hp Gator Tail over from Houston. Boat is running good now that Delta figured out I had a machined defect in my carb restricting fuel. I need to put a trolling motor on this boat now that it looks like it'll work out.
Thursday evening - Tchefuncte / Bogue Falaya - no sacalait or bass. 6 pack down the hatch, cool air, and nice sunset
Saturay - around Myrtle Grove - 3 reds on top and 1 trout on plastic before the wind kicked up. Water was fresh and off color. Needed a trolling motor to stay on the bank. Boat did pretty good with the 500 lb (2 brother in law and loaded RTIC 60) additional load. Took a little to get on step, but once up we could run sustained 23-24 mph in calm waters.
Monday afternoon - Lake Bigeaux / Henderson Swamp - Returned home solo so I had a good oppurtunity to make stops I normally can't. Picked up a few good size bream jigging for sacalait in the tree tops. Water was up high, but boat was running good around 26-27 mph
Need to slap on a trolling motor and get the prop worked and this boat will be fully rigged.
