If I could get all of the Californians out of there, Northern California wouldn’t be a bad spot to land. Clearlake, Shasta, Redwoods, etc.

That is true. But when all of your compadres are out of cell range too it promotes a better environment.

Cordoba area of Argentina. Wing shooting capital of the world.

Non hunting, I would really like to be on a hiking trail somewhere. Like the AT or PCT

Ive basically been working overseas for 7 years. Saved all my money. But living in a mega city and working on the rigs has me yearning for some outdoors space. I went to LSU so I am a huge fan of south Louisiana....But everytime I try and convince myself there is a small voice that says "Alaska, Costa Rica, Florida, etc" very hard to make a decision. So I am going to come back in a week or 2 and try and check it all out.

because you can't just turn your phone off, right? You interact on your phone as much as you choose to.

The problem is,you can't just turn other people's cell phones off.

I rarely use my cell phone. Talk to my my wife and daughter once each day ,when I am on the road, once to the freight broker, maybe once to My Cousin,or Best Friend.

If you are doing an adventure totally alone,I guess your suggestion would be OK,but who generally does that? Usually, you want to enjoy it with family or friends.
If they are constantly on a cell phone, sharing photos, texting, whatever,it takes away from the experience..because they are really not 100% there with you.

My answer to the original question:.Northeast corner of Alabama,in The Winter,(but maybe Norther New Mexico/Southern Colorado),probably Alaska in The Summer ,maybe Northern Maine.

Chandeleur Islands. Out of cell range is a huge plus.

Way back in the day, a bunch of us would go out there camping at were the light house was. Oh the fun times. Kind of crazy sinking a boat or two at night in the surf when a front would shift around and wash the boats a shore.

I would have to go with Montana from a hunting/scenery destination.
The wife has family there and I'm hoping to go one of these days for either Elk or Whitetail.

Fishing.... heading there tomorrow ..... Da' Bend!

In order to find Shang Gr La, you need to identify the activities you most want to engage in. I’ve been lucky to hunt most of the midwestern states west of the MS River and a few of the further western states. They all have something great to offer.

What is more important, hunting or fishing?
What type of hunting? Big game, waterfowl, upland birds, etc?
What type of fishing? Cold water, warm water, salt?
How to you handle cold weather and remote living?

But if I was to pick an all a rounder, my selection would be somewhere in southern Idaho or SW Montana.
