Anyone else find it frustrating as shite when they don't list prices on their website? Everyone of my local dealers (Birmingham) "call for quote!"

Yeah I fell for that ad and went in store a couple of days ago. After adding a land plane, TTL, warranty it came out to $32K. I think he said cash price might make it $27k. It was for the 3025e.

I find that frustrating and even more frustrating when they have one listed at $18,000 and the cash price is $25K. They are generally speaking as bad as car dealers in my limited but recent experience.

Same thing to me at 2 different Deere Dealerships. Had 3025 Loaders listed for $19,995 cash. When they were finished with exactly the same tractor they were pushing $30K. I told one of them I had $20K cash (I did not but I would have gone and got it LOL) and he told me that one was sold. I asked him who bought it I'd give that person $25k for it. Said he couldn't do that. These are "reputable" dealerships with locations across the SE. Bunch of shysters. And for no reason. I have no idea that $20k for that tractor is not about right....customers who do know recognize it as the BS it is. What it did, at least in my case. was make me question the brand that would conduct business that way. Haven't checked Kubota but given their advertised prices and resell prices I doubt seriously if they are not doing the same thing. I am going to buy a used one. I am pretty handy at making repairs and they are relatively simply machines. Dam a bunch of dealership tricks.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Yanmar if it met my specs and there was a dealer within 2 hours.
Lot's of good tractors on the market currently that are a lot better value than the green and orange ones.
I went with an LS XJ2025 to manage my 3 acres. 400 hours on it and the only issue i've ever had was a safety sensor. The 1200lbs FEL lift has handled everything i've thrown at it except brick pallets. PTO power is plenty for the 72" finish mower and 48" tiller I run. It's been rock solid and does everything I ask.
every once in a while I need the loader and weight capacity of a 50HP tractor, but I'm glad I'm not tearing up my yard with one on the regular! Just make sure you understand what FEL, weight, and PTO capacities you need for your jobs and match the right tractor to those specs.

Every tractor brand I’ve seen listed here is a good brand. If one is cheaper than the other, if the dealer selling the cheaper one has a good reputation, I’d buy the cheaper tractor. A good dealer stands behind whatever he sells.

Had a JD, the motor was made by Yanmar. At one time, a number of the smaller diesel tractors were made by Yanmar. They have a great reputation.

My FIL has an old one still going. Plus there are two for sale in the lake Martin curve in St Amant.

We’ll see how it goes. I decided to go ahead and purchase the Yanmar SA425. I think it should fit my needs nicely. Now time to buy some implements.
Thanks for everyone’s input.

nice
that’s a good size and it should be able to wrestle anything you need within reason. All I have for now is the loader on my 25…I’ll suggest before implements you go to TS and get a draw bar and hook for the 3 point hitch, with that you can lift and drag/pull most things that need it.
only other thing I want is a box blade and I see plenty for sale used. When I need an auger or a big hole dug I rent or hire out

Several small hp John Deere are yanmar engines….the most important thing about buying a tractor is having a good place to repair at reasonable price…..I own 4 tractors…

No experience with yanmar but have a Mahindra compact 4wd with loader. Model 3616 36hp shuttle shift. Bought new in 2015 and has been a great tractor and trouble free. Use it at deer lease and at home on 10ac. Highly recommend Mahindra. Plus since 2010 mahindra is the highest selling tractors in the world.

I've had some experience with Yanmar engines, though not their tractors specifically. I know they’re used in John Deere tractors, which speaks well of their quality. For your needs, a ~25 horsepower tractor sounds about right.
When I was shopping for loaders, I ended up buying a used John Deere. I found it to be reliable and well-built, and going the used route saved me a lot of money. I paid $10,500 for it, and it's been working great for my projects.
I recommend looking for used equipment because you can often find high-quality machines at a fraction of the cost. It’s worth checking prices for used backhoe loaders too; you might find a good deal that fits your budget and needs perfectly.
