you would have a ton of fun with a commercial hydro walk behind with a sulky
When I was in school they used to bring some prisoners out to do the yard work once a week in the summer. They had one guy that must of had enough seniority to get to run one of these bad boys. Man, he made it look like it was the funnest thing you could do. Squatting and leaning into the turns like he was racing a streetbike. I've always wanted to try one out since then. Although, it probably was the funnest thing he had done all week.

Just purchased a Scag Freedom Z 36" ZTR to cut about 3/4 Acre. So far very happy!

Kubota in my opinion is the best on the market. It will be much more than what you are looking to spend. Its more geared towards commercial contractors, many acres etc etc

I looked at the Snapper series of commercial stuff, the 50xt was a nice looking unit. I dont know shite, but the dude selling it was a wrench turner and spoke highly of them, giving a ton of specifics on why it was a great mower at a reasonable price. May want to look it over.

Get a Bush Hog 44" Estate Series. Has a welded deck and is heavy duty. Can get smaller or larger decks but this one should do the job.

The more I research these mowers it seems there isn't a huge difference between the various brands.......ask anyone who owns one and they'll tell you their brand gets the job done.

I have a 42" 21hp Bad Boy. All welded deck, well built. It does a great job on my yard. Think they are right at $3100. 48" is around $3800.

I purchased a Dixie chopper eight years ago,not because I thought it was the best zero turn. I bought it because the owner of the store did a lot of business with me. I cut two acres and have been very happy with mine. They service it once a year and change the blades. All I got.

I have had a Husqvarna Rider 155 for about 9 years now. It has never given me a lick of trouble in all that time. I have a similar situation to you with slightly more than one acre and about half of that to mow.
What is really nice about this mower is that the deck is out front and not a belly mower. This allows you to mow your entire yard without the need for a separate trimming (push) mower. Technically, it is not zero turn radius (lacks it by 16 degrees) but it has been a tremendous work horse for me. Cost about $3200 at Lowes when I bought it years ago.
As you can see, she is bad arse.

got 2 z425 Deeres. Good machines. Wish they had rollers on the deck though.

I use the Toro 42" with the stamped deck. No need for you to get the welded deck. Total waste of your money. Your not cutting grass for a living. Have had mine for 4 years, no problem. Mine has a Kohler engine, but any engine is good if its taken care of with proper ontime maintenance. Toro did buy out Exmark years ago. Your looking at about $2800 for the Toro. Gravely does make a commercial 36" for approx. $6k, a 42" for approx.$3k.

take a look at the 42 gravely

I don't understand the whole welded deck vs stamped. Normally all the other crap breaks before the deck does.
