Thinking the best MLS team would be a mid table team in the EPL is the latest one to come to mind.

Eventually MLS will get to the point where that’s plausible

No it won't barring the 2026 WC making the USSF completely change it's set up (ie expansive free academy system) and some big money investors start throwing money into soccer here. Even then it would be hard to see a world where MLS isn't still a selling league. Our best hope would be to have a domestic league that is on par with the Eredivisie knowing we won't ever have a team like Ajax here.

Jesus. The best MLS team would likely be playing the likes of Grimsby Town and Rochdale.

He started the conversation

The debate sparked by Lalas's comments reflects the ongoing discussion about the standard of MLS compared to top European leagues. While some fans believe MLS teams would struggle in England, others remain optimistic about the league's potential to compete on the international stage. Ultimately, the conversation highlights the passion and diversity of opinions within the soccer community.

Typical left wing nonsense

Chelsea scored a terrible own goal, Alexi commented on it, someone asked him where he thinks the best mls team would finish, he responds mid table.

Some people take banter on Twitter too seriously.

We have big money investors… one team even has Lionel Messi on it

If you planted them in EPL right now Inter Miami would at least survive, I’d bet anything

I used to be a pretty active poster in the MLS subreddit until the summer of 2020, when it became incredibly toxic and almost indistinguishable from an ANTIFA subreddit. I got my account flagged for arguing with some Sounders fan that Ben Shapiro isn’t a Nazi and using that word so loosely is dangerous and stupid. That experience really soured me to participating further in that community.

Yah my soccer Fandom died in 2020 with the Timbers fans (and org for that matter) being so insanely left wing

Did you see how they played against Monterrey this year? Or how about those Saudi teams?

Inter Miami has 2-3 players that would contribute on an EPL team.

Bro even the board's top Ft. Lauderdale fan a few posts up thinks that is insane.

Messi plays a style that still makes him extremely effective, but Suarez, Busquets, and Alba would get run off of an EPL field. Campana wouldn't make an EPL game day bench. Cremaschi has some potential for sure but no where close to being a contributer at that level yet. No one else would even come close.

But don’t pretend like the bottom of the EPL is much better… those guys could never hope to be the stars on Miami

Btw it only took 27 points to survive in last year’s Premier League… Messi would probably have been worth 20 himself

As the official Miami fan here I can say, Inter Miami has some great young talent. Diego Gomez is getting looked at by EPL teams. Federico Redondo is my favorite player on the team. Those 2 guys may have a future in Europe.

Inter Miami would be fighting for relegation in the epl.

They would be close to top in goals and all by themselves in goals against.

Anyone see Wrexham beat Seattle 4-1?

I did not.

Just wondering if it changed anyone’s minds on MLS competing in EPL.

Glad to see MLS teams have all this free time to compete in The U. S. Cup. I mean play all theses meaningless money grab games.

It was Vancouver not Seattle. And MLS is on break for that stupid Leagues cup thing with MX.

Also, Columbus beat Aston villa 4-1 yesterday too, so don't try to dig too deep into this lol.
