They're used to stepping back and being pulled in with flattery, but this time it might not happen—a "boy who cried wolf" scenario.
Black communities have overplayed their hand in the past five years, after decades of benefiting from white guilt. This dynamic, driven by white elites in comfortable suburbs seeking moral comfort, is unsustainable. White guilt has limits; it's not an endless resource, nor is compassion.
BLM, while initially powerful, may have caused setbacks. As people scrutinized the actual incidents, support waned. Though it still exists, it's now a shadow of its former strength.
Black people as a whole seem to have absolutely no shame nor ability to read the room and realize the jig is up. Look how many institutions and states are getting rid of DEI.
They’re not “betrayed”, people are just sick of their shite and not listening as closely anymore.
