I would never do it but when you do something illegal you shouldn't be surprised when someone calls your arse out on it and don't be surprised if they have a gun. Maybe their neighborhood had been plagued with theft and they were sick of it.

I'll write it in crayon next time that should help calm you down.

Likewise, don't be surprised when you end up in court, being judged by 12 people, because you decided to play cop.

I sympathize with their frustrations about seeing the same guy over and over poking around, but trying to cut him off while armed isn't a smart idea.

So vigilantism without concrete proof is apparently legal in Georgia.

People are saying they go to the same construction site over and over with their shirts off in the middle of the night? Or that this is a regular thing their mother did.

No you don't fricking do that.

No man. It is a great American Pastime. We all just browse construction sites 24/7.

In reality it doesn't matter if it is legal. If you go to steal something or are looking to steal something you are at a much higher risk of getting killed anywhere on earth and at anytime in human history.

I'm pretty sure the McMichaels would disagree. That's the most important thing in their lives right now...

I think we’re seeing the whole scenario of “don’t be surprised when...”

I’ll play along with your dumb idea. If you leave your 9mm in an unlocked car, don’t be surprised when it gets stolen.

I'm not about to go all vigilante but things like this are a big deal because of what they finally get convicted of.

If they were convicted on may 6th it would have been a hate crime, now it's just 3 idiots.

But it is the least important thing to the deceased. Legal or not he is dead because he was up to no good. Like many before him and many after him.

Updated the OP. There may be some dispute over whether or not the man in the footage is Arbery.

I wouldn't be at all. I would be a little happy if my neighbor shot the guy stealing it though.

Americans have to be lied to. We had to see this dude's innocent high school pictures and hear he was a jogger. They know Americans won't give two craps when it is guy with a criminal history, in an area where lots of theft happened recently and he is on camera casing out a construction site.

Oh I agree, I had this exact conversation with one friend of mine. While he was all up in arms about this, my exact words were

"How about lets wait and see all the facts before giving these two loons the firing squad, b/c the kid may not be as innocent as he seems.. But I could be wrong and i'm not jumping to conclusions"

Of course at that point I don't care about the black community..blah,blah,blah and the hate I got form his comment section was quite interesting. Looks like I might have been right somewhat in this. I trust the media about as much as I trust a fart after bad mexican food. I figured it would be a matter of time before something would emerge that may bring a bit more perspective to this really shitty situation.

I didn’t see anyone who said that. Since he was on the site multiple times, I assume he stole a bunch of stuff.

Did someone say things were stolen from that site? I thought I had read the opposite.

Your stuff = Time..... Time you spent acquiring material possessions can never be regained. Stop trying to downplay the value of "stuff". If you want to make a difference, go preach to all the worthless thieves out there and tell them they may get shot if they don't change their ways.

I get it....stealing someones shite is wrong....but I don't think it warrants an execution. Not in this case, in a bigger picture kind of way...it seems to be the consensus that if you catch someone stealing your shite you should be legally allowed to execute them. That is just wrong, in my opinion. Yes, that $300 weed whacker cost me 5 hours of my time after taxes. If I shoot someone over it I have taken away who knows how many years of time from them? I just don't get it.

My entire point has been if you go to do something illegal don't be surprised if something legal OR illegal happens to you.

Why would you say such a thing? He wasn't killed because he was stealing shite. They had ample opportunity to "kill" him when they were chasing him, but didn't. Only when dead dude tried to disarm them is when this happened.

It seems that the consensus here is that he was being detained by the shooters, at gun point, because they suspected him of being a thief. If they weren't planning to either detain him of kill him why did they need a gun??? If you point a gun at someone you better damn well intend to kill them....it is not a deterrent, it is a direct threat that if you do not do what I am telling you to do I will end your life. They intended to do one of 2 things, depending on the suspected thief's reaction....detain him until the police arrived if he was amiable to that or kill him if he took umbrage to that...because they thought he was a thief. Stealing shite should not be a capital crime....but they approached him with a gun demanding he submit to their demands, by all accounts, of suffer death.
