If Mitch had any balls he would remove Cassidy from his committees and replace him with a real Republican.

To our credit, though, we won’t be pulling a West Virginia and re-electing him again. I don’t care if that seat is needed to keep a GOP majority and he’s running against an AOC type candidate - I’m not voting for him. It’s no longer about party or morals for me. It’s 100% personal. I want Cassidy gone.

I don't believe Cassidy is going to run for re-election again; however, if he does and survives a primary challenge from his right, he will 100% be re-elected.
YOU and some other conservatives in the state might be willing to close your eyes and pull the lever for a Karen Peterson or John Bel Edwards simply to get Cassidy out of that U.S. Senate spot, but I can promise the vast majority of conservative/Republican-leaning voters will convince themselves that re-electing Cassidy would be better than someone like those two Democrats having that seat in D.C. for six years.

Jesus he couldn't be any more smug in that interview.

It's funny. People like Cassidy never really discuss THEIR guiding principles or philosophy as REPUBLICANS. It's all just centered around a discussion of pointless superficial bullshite "personality" issues.
Think about that and ask yourself why you are supposed to give a shite about any of that over anything substantive.

Those are the words of a very confused man. First of all he’s, right about the overreach of the federal government concerning shot mandates.
Secondly he’s wrong about Trump being guilty - of anything. Trump did absolutely nothing wrong, in contrast to the extreme and massive fraud and corruption connecting Joe Biden with Hunter’s laptop. But he also flat out lied about Trump losing the house. While the Republicans did lose seats in 2018 based largely on the fake Russia collusion scam, they gained seats in the house in 2020. And were it not for voter fraud in Georgia, the Senate would still be controlled by the GOP.

Will be a private citizen in January 2027 and my vote will go towards making that happen. He’s the democrats useful idiot and obviously not very smart. I don’t like stupid people that can’t/refuse to read the room. Especially when his colleague is John Kennedy who is one of the best Senators in America.
Looking forward to voting for his replacement.
With that said, I take his impeachment vote and general behavior this year as a signal that he’s not running in 2026 and that’s in line with a 2 term limit pledge he made back in 2014 when he beat Piggy Mary Landreiu.
No matter, that pledge will be enforced with or without his consent.
But it’s a damn shame term limits enable lame duck politicians to let their freak flag and we all suffer for it. Your job does not end just because you’re not facing the voters again on a ballot.

This is exactly the kind of short sighted stupidity that put John Bel Edwards in the Governor’s mansion and gave Louisiana 8 years of soul sucking misery and put the state behind fricking Mississippi in quality of life metrics for the first time in our lifetime.
If Cassidy is the runoff candidate in 2026 against a liberal, he gets my vote, as gritting and hard as it may be.
Elections have consequences.
