Could she be used as a fill in for whoever becomes the Attorney General?
Take some time off, let Sessions work his way through the system and once all of that is done get a senate seat till her running in 2024?

I want to personally thank the POTUS for getting her out of S Carolina politics. Hopefully she doesn't come back for any other reason than to raise her children and work in the private sector.

I watched the announcement. My sense is she legitimately wants a break...to prepare for something coming up. I would guess she may take over as Secretary of State after 2020, or potentially, if Pence wanted out, she would roll in as VP on the ticket.
ETA: if the Sessions-Graham-Haley Devil’s Triangle comes true then I will legitimately be blown away by Trump’s political skill.

Could be. John Scott made reference to Haley having 17 and 14 year-old children and Haley insinuated she would like to have more family time. I can see that.

The president just said that she told him about 6 months ago that she was planning on resigning. I'm sure he's had a plan for a while. It will be interesting to see what it is. It's amazing in this day and age it was not leaked.
