ETA: yet if HRC ran tomorrow, you’d eagerly vote for her- a woman who destroyed confidential documents trafficked on her illegal server and destroyed evidence under subpoena and hired her cohorts as attorneys to cover it up. A woman who paid foreign spies for Russian disinformation and laundered it through the alphabets to have a sitting president removed from office and jailed.

From everything I've seen from videos of the Jan 6 attack and Jan 6 hearings that def of a coup fits to a t what Trump was attempting to do.

the rioters weren't trying to take over the power station. it wasn't a traditional coup.
the uproar was a part of the attempt to postpone the count. stop the STEAL.
the intended coup depended upon vp pence determining that there are issues for states to resolve.
thats it. no taking over a tv station like a banana republic..
after the close states republican legislatures all chose Trump electors THEN pence could count the new better results for trump.
trump won.
now you know.
the uproar was a part of the attempt to postpone the count. stop the STEAL.

Please!!! You project way too much altruism to Trump. He really was not going to interfere with anyone's money until he found out about the ridiculous corruption going on as it pertained to siphoning off foreign aid to places like Ukraine . He probably saw that as needlessly poking Russia in it's backyard.
If you look at it fairly, he did not rein in federal spending ( to be fair, I think no one can at this point) But at the end of 2019 his contribution to the debt was as great as any of his predecessors. His tax overhaul did not help most taxpayers.....did not hurt, either.
He was destabilizing as far as foreign policy types considered it. You did not know where he was coming from and many in the establishment saw what he was doing as not necessarily " Putting America First"

He should have had people in place to direct the political end as well as the governing end before his election in 2016. He should have cleaned out the CIA and then embraced the CIA. Want to know what Obama did the first week after the inauguration? He visited CIA and gave a supportive speech....it kept them off his arse....meanwhile he began to populate it with his people.
