They woildnt even approve a pipeline from Alberta to the east coast. They have to pipeline into the US and then across and back out.
Its insanity to not be able to move what could be your biggest export should you really need to crank it up to offset the other downsides in thier economy.
China is running the same playbook here but a lot faster there due to the size. Controlling housing and real estates pushing into critical areas. America better look North and see the warnings.

Payback is a bitch ain't it? Countries around the world have insulted us for years and years long before Trump came along. We're done taking it while funding them and their defense.

I've been as critical of the Trump tariffs as anyone b/c they hurt American consumers and taxpayers.
That said, Canada can suck it.
Trump is under no obligation whatsoever to act in any country's best interest but the United States.

Remember when Keystone XL was shut down and the liberals in Canada sided with Biden? I 'member. They cut their own throats... that's Canadian tar sands oils.
Remember when the PM of Canada said they were going to make American citizens feel as much pain as possible? I 'member.
Remember when Canada threatened to cut off power to much of NY and NE via Ontario? I 'member.
Remember when Canada said they would rather make a deal with the Chinese than bow to Trump? I 'member.
We should do everything we can to exacerbate the situation until the people of Canada force a change in their government's stance (or the government itself). Welcome to the Thunderdome Cannuks.

This too.
Let's not pretend that there is some culture of decorum that extends to the US. The entire world is jealous of us, and they have never been shy about expressing it.

RIP
Here lies Canada.
They died with their elbows out.

If the rest of the world can isolate themselves from our economy then I’ll say Trump was a bad president.
Hint: They can’t.

Canada handed China the keys to their assembly-economy and took advantage of the US for decades.
They actually refused to participate in the formation of the USMCA , refused to provide inputs.
They deserve everything that is happening to them today.
quote:
With three quarters of their economic production tied to exports into the USA, and with the USMCA likely to be dissolved in favor of a bilateral trade agreement, Canada now has to find other markets for its products or lower all the trade barriers currently in place.
Prime Minister Mark Carney is trying to find alternative markets. Carney has looked toward Europe, but that is a closed trade bloc difficult to engage. Carney has looked to southeast Asia, but that is an export driven market with limited capabilities to import costly western products. Carney has looked to Japan and China, but on scale there’s little to be gained. The question is, where can Canada send its products if not to the USA. The brutally honest answer is nowhere.
There just isn’t any other market, or combination of markets, who could replace the consumer base of the USA. Canada is refusing to admit this reality and 2026 is going to be a harsh awakening for the Canadian people.
The USMCA is currently facilitating around 60% of Canada’s exports into the United States. Cancel that agreement and suddenly 100% of all Canada-U.S. trade is on the table for negotiations. U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer and President Trump are going to put the squeeze on Mark Carney and every province within Canada as a consequence of their intransigence.

I thought we backed down when they refused to Jack Danial’s in their liquor stores?

no one wants anything from Canada other than your oil (which now has drastically higher shipping prices).
They can’t even refine their own oil. And they are going to have a hard time shipping it elsewhere. Options are limited with the heavy crude they produce in Alberta. It will continue to get sold to US refineries, whether Canada likes it or not.

Canada exists solely at the pleasure of the United States. Any action they take that affects the US should be met with a strong disciplinary response, like one would treat a spoiled, unruly teenager.
The reality is the world economy needs the US, and it high time we take care of ourselves. Fall in line Canada.

More like jealous and have to lie about the US to make themselves feel better about themselves.

Like many contracting European countries, the economic policies of Canada are centered around their climate change agenda and green energy goals. For the past few decades Canada bought into the carbon scam and enacted climate change goals into law for carbon pricing, alternative energy production, industry and manufacturing costs. These mechanisms to control “climate change” are nuts in the big picture.
In order for Canada to position their economy to be in alignment with the rest of North America (USA and Mexico), Carney would have to reverse years of legislated rules and regulations.
That is not going to happen, and Canada will always be at a disadvantage because of it.

Yup its a choice between political continued rule and having a competitive economy.
Its exactly right that no nation would take on the under efficient over regulated over taxed Canadian products.
The two big consumer economies are the EU and the US.
Even before added shipping, the EU would not take dumping of Canadian goods, they have their own markets to protect.
Their leaders traded competitiveness for socialism and high immigration.

Canada has been failing ever since they started electing progressive leadership!
It has nothing to do with the USA!
When did this start?
From the charts looks like 2010 was a pivot point, and they went in the wrong direction then. Harper was their PM, obviously Trudeau was a leftie. Was Harper the start and took him a few years to go down, and hit in 2010?

Hey OP thanks for bringing such a solid thread to the board. Good info, and we'll laid out. Wish other thread starters would do this. Hopefully your example will get the new year started in the right direction.
I heard an interview on this a few months back, I believe it was a tucker one, and it was interesting to hear how Canada only survived on Alberta, and maybe another province. The way they are set up, they are essentially the only territory that provides actual money to the govt. Pretty fricked up.
But hey at least they are more diverse, right?!..right???
