How much of that can be attributed to the mental mindset tho? Thanks to the media, people thought COVID was a death sentence and were likely getting so worked up they ended up in a hospital with COVID.

So a shot that we don’t know the long term effects of sort works a little? I should get that v just living my life and having a very low chance of dying without the shot that we don’t know shite about? Keep trying to convince everyone dick

And throws a temper tantrum when you don’t accept that > 1 in 34 people will be hospitalized for Covid without the jab.

“Works a little” isn’t a way to describe what we’re talking about.

That’s perfectly fine for you to make that choice. I would fight next to you for that freedom. I do not wish to fight for your freedom to argue with numbers. Stick to the autonomy argument.

You don’t even understand the conversation and you’re pontificating away. Embarrassing.

Logic would assume if you prevent 1 out of 34 from hospitalization then there were more than 1 in 34 ultimately destined for the hospital.

You think more than 1 out of every 34 people were destined for the hospital due to Covid?

He doesn’t think, he knows. The hospitalization rate for wild type covid is about 4-4.5%.

It’s higher in certain populations and lower in others.

You’re starting from the wrong assumption. A number needed to treat is based on what would otherwise happen. In other words, if nothing was done versus the treatment you’re doing.

So, in this case, the vaccine (using this specific subset of data - which isn’t conclusive) appears to prevent 1 hospitalization for every 34 vaccinations versus doing nothing.

So if there would have been 2 hospitalizations, 34 vaccinations would have reduced it to one.

To address this secondary point, we have the data on this. 4.4% of people who get infected with Covid are hospitalized. That’s ~1 in 25.

This point has nothing to do with the conversation above. You’ve just misunderstood the discussion.

That is the question to ask. Is this beach in the NE an area with a representative sample wildly different than the average American thus causing hospitalizations to be less likely.

The data isn’t really useful more than as a proverbial cocktail napkin.

It’s not a strong argument either way. You can’t make it say the vaccine is going to stop all Covid and you can’t make it say the vaccine doesn’t work.

Possible, but it jives with what I’m seeing.

Hospitalization rates among the elderly here have plummeted and they’re vaccinated at an 80% clip.

We have more 30-40 year olds hospitalized right now than 70 year olds, at least at my particular hospital, which is insane to me.

I know all this.

You do not know this.

What you mean is 4.4% of people sick enough with Covid to go get tested for Covid wind up in the hospital. As we know there are many people who are asymptomatic for Covid.

I understood just fine. I was extrapolating the info perhaps in a different direction than you. I appreciate the feedback though.

This applies to both sets of data and is thus irrelevant.

You are out of your element, not that that appears very hard to do. Please outsource your science and math education when you home school.

Because I’m about to gear up another day of dealing with you mouth breathers who refuse to get vaccinated and would rather eat your horse paste.

I empathize with skeptics but belligerent ignorance deserves scorn.

Yes.
The NE has a higher than avg vax rate.
