I do know for a fact that cali public schools run mock elections with the actual candidates.
The results were posted for high schoolers a few weeks ago. Surprisingly pro Trump.

That's a pretty broad brush. I think it is highly dependent on where that public school is located. My wife is 16-17 years in. Very conservative.
