What hurt Trump tonight was Trump. His go-to is to bloviate, to attempt to oversell. Tonight, he did that in almost every response. He needed to bring substance to skull-frick Joe, instead he offered nuggets of substance but then drowned them in "the greatest".
Trump had years of solid economic, military and foreign wins to pull from. Much of what he did when he went to that was to just cover them with vague generalities.
What hurt Biden tonight was Biden. He looked old and frail. The few times he perked up it made me think of someone in an old folks home perking up because they thought they heard it was "Pudding Day". Joe vacillated between struggling to get out a thought or sentence without mumbling and looking like he didn't know where he was.
Tonight's debate was a race to the bottom. Trump didn't perform as well as he could have and Joe looked and sounded like he wasn't going to remember his own name at any moment.

Policy is one thing… stuttering on the most important night of your life showed the American people that you are not fit to run this country for another 4 years… it’s just that simple.
