I remember when the DoE wanted to force Common Core on all the states, and that’s reason enough to get rid of a central authority over school systems. Schools aren’t there to indoctrinate.

There never should have been a DoE. Wake up.

What was the US ranked prior to the establishment of DOE?

That was Owebama's deal, he funneled common core thru the DoE. That's not reason enough to disband,
What's the framework schools will follow if the DoE is eliminated?, you didnt think about that, just throw something up to see if it sticks??

The cost per pupil may be higher than other countries either way that doesn't justify eliminating the DoE, moving it to the state level or auditing & scaling back sure.
What were we in the 60's before the DoE? Why did we need it all of a sudden in the 70's? Look at the path it has taken since.
That is enough evidence to get rid of it.

I don't know the source of the Trump poll either. But I've seen at least a dozen rankings of K-12 education and the U.S. is never in the top 20. It is always No.1 in college rankings but our colleges cost WAY more than other colleges and the foreigners who send their bright kids to the U.S. for college are all entering STEM majors.

The DoE is an unconstitutional money laundering agency that steals money from the states, takes a cut and sends it back to the states with strings attached.
Why anyone could believe it is vital to our country is baffling.

In the 60s and 70s, we had the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare (HEW), which was basically HHS and Education under one roof. HHS is the successor department to HEW.

I would much rather him eliminate the DoEd...since the DOE is the Department of Energy.

Although most rankings say it’s in the 25-30 range, you’re still substantiating that the most powerful nation on earth has sub-par education. In the words of Chris Rock : “you low expectation having mother f****a.”

The DoE could probably be overhauled but US schools are way ahead in Science and Technology, something you dont know shite about going to podunk high!
The Department of Energy (DOE) does a lot to support schools in Science and Technology...but I'm not sure why that is applicable in a DoEd thread.

Not sure where Trump gets his stats on public education with the US ranked 40th, the US is ranked 13th in education worldwide by this site. The cost per pupil may be higher than other countries either way that doesn't justify eliminating the DoE, moving it to the state level or auditing & scaling back sure.
Having worked at a major university, I can promise you the Dept of Education is about as useful as tits on a hog. Some of the dumbest, most uneducated people I've ever met have come through with "high" test scores in highschool...
