Using the federal govt as a source of funds is outrageously inefficient. You'd be better off with a tax cut, and instead a tax credit for any services you pay out of pocket, while abolishing the entirety of the DOE.
Not talking about using it as a source of funds, but as setting standards and federal enforcement of things like equal access to education for kids with disabilities through IDEA. This is the type of things the DoEd should do or under the umbrella of another department like it use to be.

Then the standards are set and those people can go home. They have had 45 years, I don't think it is going to happen.
sounds like a one time, coupla million shot

“ powers not delegated to the federal government by the Constitution, nor prohibited to the states, are reserved for the states or the people”
The End

imagine being in this thread and defending the small group of like-think bureaucrats inside the DC bubble as better able to decide what should be taught to a bunch of farmer's kids in Oklahoma.

doesn't justify eliminating the DoE,
What part of the childs education has improved since the DoE came to be? I don't see anything. If some process or program has not improved things in 50 years, it's never going to. End it.

Data Pandas? really? Your trusted news source? Or the one that you could find to bolster your narrative?
Why leave out this one?
quote:
The IMD World Competitiveness Center reports that the U.S. ranked 12th in its 2024 Competitiveness Report after ranking first in 2018.
When Trump was last president, we were 1st. Now 12th. Hmmmm
Or this?
quote:
Despite the United States having the best-surveyed education system on the globe, U.S students consistently score lower in math and science than students from many other countries. According to a report in 2018, the U.S. ranked 38th in math scores and 24th in science.
Those scores were from tests taken during the Obama administration
And this?
quote:
The Program for International Student Assessment, for instance, measures 15-year-olds’ knowledge in the areas of reading, math and science. In the most recent results from 2022, the mean score for math among American teens ranked No. 21 among the three dozen countries that were assessed
Theres more
quote:
U.S. students ranked 28th out of 37 OECD member countries in math. Among OECD countries. The U.S. average score for math fell by 13 percentage points between 2018 and 2022
Trump aint wrong
quote:
America now ranks 33rd out of the 44 advanced economies when it comes to the percentage of young people attaining a post-high school degree. In preschool education, the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development just ranked America 35th out of 37 when it comes to investing in early childhood education. Today, barely half of three- and four-year olds are enrolled in early childhood education. In Germany, France, and the UK, for example, that number is more than 90%.

It’s not something you need a giant department, no. You do need someone updating it and making sure it is enforced. Combine it with another department, there are other things like this that the department does that is useful. Slimming down and combining with other departments is warranted.

They are job creators for lazy people.

You are in Tennessee too. Have you looked into the charter schools our dipshit state reps like? They are bigger pieces of shite than our public schools. The TCAP laws are utterly dogshit and not working. My daughter with dyslexia gets no help from the state, her IEP thanks to Federal laws gets us to do an end around stupid Tennessee bullshite.

Then let states and cities and counties compete with each other for students
That’s the problem. Too many (most) people have lost the ability and desire to compete.

There's a kid in TN suing his school district for graduating with a 3.4 GPA, but found he is unable to read. Which one of those 2 rankings do you really think is closer??
