You could always emigrate from the US to one of your favorite communist countries, because communism is so awesome and stuff.

We don't have to be the only superpower or the most powerful. We need to be at least as powerful. We need to be able to protect our trade routes and to protect our weak trade partners and allies and help protect our not so weak trade partners and allies.

People's Korea is best Korea!

ETA: There are also plenty of communes here in the U.S. and in Europe, but I suppose they are still being oppressed by scarcity.

The last time I checked people in Denmark and Norway were pretty happy despite not being a superpower.
How did that work for them in the 1940's, nitwit?

No, we have to have the most powerful country in the world to preserve your right to ask such a stupid question.

Unfortunately for people like Ralph, those are voluntary. Used to be a couple of religious communes around here, but they didn't work out in the long run.

Communists don't trust humanity and rely on force to get the other fella to comply.

They fought hard and did not surrender until they were defeated and exhausted their resources. The Soviet Union though was never conquered by Hitler.

My friends in Canada can say that and not worry.

I'm all in favor of protecting ourselves but that does not mean we have to be the most powerful country on earth.

I am a socialist. I do not wish to move since as an American I have a right to bring socialism to the USA via peaceful means.

Well, you do not have the right to bring socialism to me, and I am a citizen of the United States. How would you go about it peacefully?

Tribalism or paranoia. Or a combo.

The problem with "staying out of it" when it comes to authoritarians and their need for ever more territory and people to control, is they eventually come for you. A free and open society is not safe in a world where communists run free to do as they please, because by its very nature communism cannot coexist with democratic republics in the long run.

Via elections, peaceful protests, and constitutional amendments. We can create a socialist USA via those methods. There is no need for violence.

What he meant to say was he has a right to bring socialism peacefully as long as you accept it.

Communism is more democratic than capitalist democracy since in communism people own the economy--the land, labor, capital, and means.

How are elections not violent? The act of voting itself, of course, is not coercive - but the results are.

Democracy blows, you can have it.

Look man that's how we decide things here. We have elections. If we change the constitution via amendments we all have to accept them.

Of course Stalin said, "those who vote do not decide elections, it's those who count the votes who decide elections."

I don't think that had anything to do with my post.

Yes, you do. It's legal to steal others money for your own benefit if enough people vote for it.

That is all very true, but don't try to pretend that they are peaceful.
