Fascinating claim.

Excommunication is a form of discipline that is meant to bring about repentance and restoration. I wouldn't want to have anything to do with a group that didn't discipline unrepentant sin like that.

The Spanish Inquisition worked the same way, massive success.

It's not for me and mine and I stay out of other people's bedrooms. Hey, whatever a man and a woman and another woman with a penis do with a midget and a donkey, that's their gosh darn business.

No where in scripture does it say to torture people to death (or close to) to get them to repent or convert to Christianity.

Personally, I think all of the deviations are not good for folks but when people engage in them, it's simply none of my business and therefore someone's personal conduct when it did not effect anyone outside the consenting parties should not be a topic of discussion in the news.

I agree, but if media is going to run with dumb stories about how wifesharing can be fun and healthy for relationships, they should be called out when they don't mention most relationships involved probably don't survive, etc.

I guess I just particularly find it absurd that a media apparatus that defines rape as "sex you may regret later" and thinks women must be protected from toxic masculinity will die on a hill defending an industry that abuses the shite out of vulnerable women or a culture that centers primarily on gratification of men (swinging), etc.

I have and there's a reason why I won't ever do it again. Western Christianity is barbaric and backward as hell.

Goodness, what kind of church did you go to?

I don't go to church that often, but when I do, it is always quite nice and pleasant, even uplifting.

What the hell was barbaric about your church experience or you just sensationalizing?

Of course not, the fires of the Inquisition were meant to purify the soul before (and compel them to confess) and after death so they would be received in heaven. You have to understand the Catholic Church was really doing the public a service by both holding the accused and confessed sinners accountable for the public good.

Spain remained overwhelmingly Catholic. Seems like it worked just fine from the Inquisition's perspective.

Falwell Jr. wasn't in a threesome...he was sitting in a corner watching...like Roger Stone.

Fun fact, the Inquisition only officially ended in 1808 after Napoleon became emperor.

From that perspective perhaps we should bring it back. I hereby nominate myself head Inquisitor.

Seriously, does anyone give a shite that married couples have threesomes? Is it anyone's business? I would like to hear if there is anyone here who thinks it's just flat wrong.

What occurs in the bedroom between a man, a hotwife, and a consenting, semi-American pool boy is no one's business. Just as what happens between a man's camera, a hotwife and a particularly well muscled and well endowed African-American fellow is also no one's business. Finally, what happens between a man and a consenting semi-American pool boy when his hotwife is busy spending time her personal Mandingo warrior is no one's business.

If they are professing Christians living in unrepentant sin, it's an issue for the whole body of Christ (the Church).

Are you a Priest? If not then you aren't the church.

Jesus, Himself, gave us the paradigm for dealing with sin like this. Why should we disobey God by ignoring unrepentant sin that makes a mockery of the Church?

There's a pretty solid part of the bible about not casting judgement. Maybe start there?

quote:

Why is abuse of power your line in the sand?

There's this whole thing called "consenting adults".

And why the church even cares about what people do under the current defining term of marriage is beyond me. Marriage having to be approved by a local government is something Christianity fought against for a long time. Maybe spend your energy fighting that than judging what two people do who happened to be engaged in a government-approved bond?
