If Ireland falls, Europe is 100% done. If it can be somehow take back ground, Europe has a 5-10% chance to undo the damage. Unlikely, but very modestly possible

There definitely some IRA left over to some extent and it sort of goes like this:
Continuity/Real IRA/New Ira/ONH -- extortion drug dealers and construction jobs.
Provo IRA-- Telling Sinn Fein what to do and what to say and not to say (especially about police)
Official IRA -- being total retards and mumbling to themselves how much they hate the Provos , and making sure their Marxist newsletter is juuuust right, and then having tea and being in bed by 8pm
For the record the only IRA that ever pledged any sort of allegiance to the USSR/ communism in general was the Sticks (Official IRA)
The Provos had pockets of Maoists in Tyrone/Monaghan, but it wasnt an organizational thing.
PIRA politics varied widely from guys like Jim Lynagh that were big into Mao to other guys who were more along the lines of Sean South. Meanwhile at the top Gerry and Martin tried to keep the whole thing respectably centrist at the political level (centrist for Europe of the 80s and 90s).
The Provos left over will still have people killed, mostly when they figure out someone was ratting, or if someone is standing in their way of that sweet sweet money from Westminster that they get through "community outreach" and "social worker" jobs.
Right now ONH is the one you dont want to be near, they are young and reckless and heavily involved in drugs, and they are not afraid to kill.
I spend 1-2 months a year in Fermanagh and dual citizenship as wells loads of family around there. I always love to talk about , and learn about, the different iterations and groups of Physical Force Irish republicanism. Dont even get me started on Irish Republican Legitimacy.

Yes. The statement was too simplistic, possibly by design. ‘Communists’ doesn’t mean anything.
You have to find this on your own. I suggest you start by researching the people who create the messages you see in media in this country (writers, producers, directors, actors, etc.).
