S&P 500

January high 6220
April low 4830

Close yesterday 5550

So it is almost exactly half way between its high and low of the year

went down near 1400 - got approx. 700 back

a decision still coming for everyone

I think that regardless, Trumps measured move re tariffs is brilliant concerning the long term good of our nation and our economy

its not always that easy - there have been a few occasions that the market has gone on extended losing streaks

I don’t monitor mine for short term volatility. Save myself the headache.

I certainly don’t day trade in it.

Gotta overcome the psychological when it comes to times like this.

Wife is an FA. Has a certain client with almost $2 million wiht her, already retired. she ran the numbers for him and showed that the market could keep doing what i had been for like the next 4 years and he would still be okay. He didnt care, he wants to get out of the market until trump is gone, wanted to cash out his stock portfolio and put it in a money market at his bank, and cash out his IRAs and pay the tax. she was able to talk him out of doing anything immediately, and then the market went back up. Dude was about to devastate himself financially over his TDS. If he keeps it up she will try to get him to agree to leave his IRAs alone and put his stock portfolio into a 4 year fixed annuity paying 5%, not because thats a good idea but because its the least stupid thing he will probably accept. She suspects his CPA is giving him financial advice, they interfere alot in financial planning and really frick people over some times

I’m wondering what I did wrong. When the markets were tanking my account Ts climbed double digits. Now that they’ve recovered they are still going up.

I have to find time to dig into what’s driving it but I’ve been busy and am usually a set it and forget it guy.

I'm still a bit down from highs.

No withdrawals and no changes, buying every two weeks from my TSP deduction plus matching.

That depends when people entered the market or if they added on the dip.

Not to brag but…

Changed investment companies two months ago. Cashed out my 401k about three weeks before the big drop. Bought back in at the bottom. Up 28% for the year. Pure dumb luck but I’ll take it!

Name a 20 year period that didn’t average 7 percent.
