I used to work for the Postal Service for a time and I hated it. I couldn't stand it when people would insinuate or outright accuse me of holding up their mail and it happened often.
My guess is when shite like that happens, a person's package or whatever has probably fallen off a table or some shite in some large distribution center somewhere and is laying on the ground under someones desk.
Then, the mail carriers themselves get the blame.
Back when I was doing it (2003 or so) we still weren't using computers to handle the forwarding of mail aspect of it. We had to look everything up in like a frickin rolodex (box of index cards) and write it all out by hand. It was the dumbest shite I've ever had to do. It took entirely too much time when I knew damn well they had the technology available at the time to have that shite mostly automated.
It's a frickin ate up system for sure. It needs an overhaul before we can expect them to handle something like a national election.

True story. This spring I got one of my daughters birth announcements back undeliverable return to sender. She will turn 9 in November.
It was postmarked Dec of 2011. Marked undeliverable in February of 2020. This particular one went to a family that’s moved twice since it was mailed.

Until they close duplicate facilities (within a 10 mile area near my house we have THREE USPS facilities) they can't hope to get costs down.
The one where I have my PO Box could easily be closed (I can move my mail to another one). They can't use their lock boxes for packages since they are all damaged from break-ins, it doesn't have an automated postage dispenser, maybe one person handles the counter and outside they have rusting old collection-style mailboxes which should be sold for scrap. It took them FOUR YEARS to fix the potholes in the parking lot.

Same problem here. We used to send a set of 10 $2.00 bills in serial number sequence to each of them at the appropriate times. Lost so much mail that we had to switch to checks that will never have any collector value.

Trump needs to generate a massacre at PBS. Its time to make Public Broadcasting reflect the attitude of the population and not just the progressives.

I agree. I had a cell phone that never arrived and I was trying to figure out if it was ever undelivered or was stolen and that was my home station (or whatever it's called.) Absolute ignorance, incompetence, and rude as rattlesnake.
I ended up catching my mailman one day and asked him if he remembered (it was now a month after the fact) so of course he didn't and said he was never even asked about it. I don't want to get him in trouble and this was many many years ago but he had some choice words about the woman that was his supervisor there. It was one of the worst customer service I've ever received and will never forget the absolutely rude bitch that is the manager at that location.

I have had to call several govt agencies within State and I am not being mean but each time was a female that could not spell and spoke ignorant and seemed pissed I sounded white..

I’m not sure what their deal is, but In the last month or so USPS has been absolutely awful. Like won’t deliver your package for two weeks after the due date bad.

And govt supported university broadcasting... those places are root-bound in aging political hacks collecting 6-figure salaries for next-to-no work. Then they retire at near their 'active' years average income.

Never use the USPS for anything time sensitive. Sure, it's convenient, but it's unreliable, and that's the main reason USPS loses so much money. UPS even throws USPS a bone with SurePost, and they screw that up. When UPS says 2-3 day ground will be there, it's there.
