Using the IRS to target conservative groups

This is the opposite of government overreach. Roe was an example of federal govt overreach. Your friends are ignorant. This does not make abortion illegal. It returns the decision to the states.

The Kelo decision
Numerous taxes
Obamacare that forced citizens to enter into a relationship with a private entity.
Many guns laws.
Regulating light bulbs, gallons per flush in toilets or water usage in dishwashers and washing machines.
CAFE standards which mandate that automakers have to have a particular average fuel efficiency for their overall fleet.
Really, look up any of the regulations to supposedly combat climate change.
Hell, minimum wage. Better employees would be paid more than their loser counterparts if the losers didn't have to be paid 7 per hour.
Rent control

IRS targeting conservatives
Obama getting FISA warrants to spy on media critics.
Obama spying on rival political campaign
DOJ, FBI, CIA conspiring with foreign government intel agencies to target a duly elected POTUS and his admin.
Basically turning this once proud nation into a third world police state.

Go old school. Have them read Wickard vs Fillburn. It’s fundamental in understanding the leviathan that is the Federal Govt and how it got to where it is today.

This is the opposite of government overreach. Giving power back to the states is not overreach. It’s how all of this is supposed to work.

You can start at the commerce clause.

From ACLU
quote:
The ACLU and CCR have filed a lawsuit challenging the government's targeted killing of three U.S. citizens in drone strikes far from any armed conflict zone. In Al-Aulaqi v. Panetta (Al-Awlaki v. Panetta) the groups charge that the U.S. government's killings of U.S. citizens Anwar Al-Aulaqi, Samir Khan, and 16-year-old Abdulrahman Al-Aulaqi in Yemen last year violated the Constitution's fundamental guarantee against the deprivation of life without due process of law. The killings were part of a broader program of "targeted killing" by the United States outside the context of armed conflict and based on vague legal standards, a closed executive process, and evidence never presented to the courts.

During the Obama administration, the president, on numerous occasions, authorized the use of drone strikes against presumed enemy combatants in Iraq, Libya, and Afghanistan with zero due process of law. On more than one occasion, drone strikes were carried out which killed American civilians who happened to be visiting family abroad. In one particular instance, the drone strike killed dozens of people, including an American citizen, by attacking a wedding.

You mean the one where the Supreme Court upheld State Segregation laws?
How is that federal overreach? Or are we admitting big government at a state level is still big government?
