All these debates over masks and closure of schools should be settled at the local level.

So your idea of small government is to allow local government to act as big government?
local government is the people closest to the voters, so if anyone should, it’s them

The federal government probably has zero authority to give money independently to a local school to pay salaries as well

The Federal Government has "zero authority" to do a shite load of the things it's been doing since at least 1945.

In reply, you answered your own question, the fed gives it to the state. The fed does not and cannot, without specific authorization from congress unilaterally give money to some obscure school board member as a salary.

It is quite simple to understand and river city is an idiot for not comprehending that.

Public school cannot be saved.

Almost every private school around where I live has “equity” on their webpage listed before academics. I’m not sure anything short of home schooling is the answer at this point.

Well hell, then that means we were probably actually in agreement the entire time. If my bottom line point is that federal dollars do ultimately make it to local education authorities, and your bottom line point is that there are no line item, specific allocations in Congress' federal budget, then I think we're in the same page.

Teachers are not state employees, but work for parishes or in this case county

These executive orders will become very problematic in the future when Dems are in office. This kind of stuff should be handled with legislation. This could be bad news in the future when Dems are in power. Could an executive order be used to force school boards to teach CRT, change grading and discipline systems to favor minorities, remove teaching of some history, etc.
I guess they have the authority because of emergency powers they have now? I'm not sure. I just worry about setting this kind of precedent.
