While everyone is tossing around double digit inflation numbers remember the Fed target is 2% inflation. What grade do you give Mr Powell?

I picked one thing in the store to keep track of about a year ago. That one thing is Jimmy Dean sausage I frequently buy. I think its around one pound per item. The price has gone from $2.00 ea to $4.00 at Walmart. So that's an 100% increase.

They can lie and deceive until their heads explode but consumer prices are the one area where the voting public knows when they are being lied to.

This inflation is 30-40% Just look at prices.
That doesn’t even touch the loss of purchasing power of peoples retirement accounts.

That may be true but with distrust about pretty much everyone, the consumer knows exactly what the real number is.

You know, the actual things that people spend money on every single day.

I heard it described in this way "Well certain grocery items and fuel costs are very volatile and not a stable measure of inflation". Huh, isnt that what inflation is supposed to be measured on????????

If we use the measures used in 1990 its about 12% if we use the measures for the CPI prior to 1980 its now over 15%.

I heard a newcaster chastising his counterparts when they were complaining about prices he said his cereal is the same price...but he needs bookends to keep the boxes from falling over.

I’m at the final four with a couple of banking industry guys. Not high up types, but long time bankers. They said their bank leadership sent a letter out that actual inflation will be 25% this year.

Yep. Jimmy Dean sausage is something we used to buy every week as I eat eggs and sausage for breakfast almost daily. Not any more. I've cut that out and instead fry up a couple of slices of ham with my eggs. Cheaper. Sausage has doubled in price as have many things.

Grocery store prices are getting out of control.

It's a composite calculation taken on the sum of all goods sold. Not everything has taken off in price.

Speaking of services, my barber went from 25 pre Covid to 30 to last time I went 35. I like the guy but I’m going to have to shop around.

We had a couple ladies clean our apartment and it cost 250 for a 2 hour job. I’m gonna get better at dusting myself
