Bernie is at heart a capitalist in socialist clothing.
A crony capitalist, but a capitalist.

How much training did Chauvin have? Maybe he was well trained and he just sucked.

He is basically arguing for an increase in funding for police. You can’t expect more out of cops without paying them more and spending additional funds on training.
Which I think is a reasonable request.

I disagree that most police officers need to be college educated, which is something being pushed.
I'm sure you know a lot of college-educated people who are complete fricking morons.

Now I wonder what his Antifa disciples along with AOC, Rashida Talib, and Ilhan Omar are going to say.
There is really no legitimate debate contra what he said. Anyone who thinks that a city or town can function safely without a professional police force is living in fantasy land.

Keep in mind, Bernie has an ulterior motive for well paid police. Make them dependent upon the government (city, local, etc) and they become loyal to a socialist cause. I believe police should be well paid too, but we need to find a way to control spending in other places to pay for that training, payroll, etc for police departments.

Crazy that even Bernie isnt on board with BLM.

I'm not sure if this is a joke, but the answer is yes. Our country is full of them.

But now...
Prog answer to education issues = pay teachers $200k a year.
Prog answer to crime and policing issues = pay cops nothing.
And they wonder why they are ridiculed and their only solution is to shame anyone who questions their motives, methods and manifestos.

Bernie Sanders, of all people, has found himself on the right wing of many issues the last few years.

Nope, not a joke. Just pointing out that having college-educated cops won't make them all of a sudden, not morons.

It’s like teachers, you aren’t getting better teachers by throwing money at it.
The pool of people who are willing to put up with what teachers and cops put up with doesn’t materially grow for marginally higher pay.

Just curious: when did he make this statement? Recently, or prior to George Floyd’s ascension into Heaven to sit at the right hand of God Almighty?

I hope they realize that if teacher pay goes to 200k, very few of our current teachers will make the cut over the people who will become interested.
And I'm all for this on the condition that the very best qualified people are teaching, but teaching online groups of thousands, not classrooms of 25.

sounds like he is advocating for higher pay for police

Ok, I guess I'll be "that guy."
Sounds great. Who is going to pay for it?

This is a pot the Democrats don’t want to stir up. All those union police officers around the country. That’s a lot of votes

That is basically what the “defund the police” movement is all about. I looked into more deeply yesterday and it actually has some pretty good points. Not sure I’m still 100% on board with it, but I at least see where they’re coming from.

So he didn’t call for more money but he wants to pay them more and pay for more training?
How does that work? Sounds like Bernies true socialist self.
