What I think is that a relatively small percentage of the electorate actually sway national elections in this country, and that slice of the citizenry is extremely uninformed.
They probably haven't seen anything about what's going on in Minnesota except what happened to be on a CNN headline while they were waiting for their order to come up at some bar & grill.
That's what so many people here can't wrap their minds around. Informed people do not elect presidents. 95% of voters just cancel each other out, and the dumbest 5% wander into the booths and elect the POTUS.

There is some truth to this. Have the USG agencies cut off funding, have Congress haul Walz in for testimony, and keep the focus on Democratic incompetence. Instead, Trump and Noem use Somali fraud as a pretext for sending a surge in agents to MN. Now you have a guy dead, with many posters on this board, while not defending his decision to be there, are defending his right to carry and criticizing the agents who shot him. It's a far different response than the woman shot in the car.
Check one of the other threads about the shooting on the front page here. Most responses support the position that the guy had a constitutional right to be armed, and that his decision to be there and be carrying didn't justify him being shot. The upvote/down vote ratio on those posts show that a significant shift in public opinion could easily happen.
Also...Noem's bullshite statement about the guy wanting to "inflict maximum damage". If that were true, dead/wounded agents would have been on the ground. When the truth is on your side, you don't have to rush to put out a bullshite statement.
I have supported Noem up to now, but she is going to get herself impeached or pushed out before this is over

It’s a very very small percentage of people that do this sort of thing.
Most important thing to do is VOTE. And get as many liked minded people to vote in EVERY election.
