Doesn't mean that wasnt the cause for which they fought, as specifically enumerated by the states themselves.
The presercation of slavery was the primary cause of secession. Lincoln invading the South was why the war was fought. The Confederes tried to treat with the Federal Government.

Hey Einstein, do you do realize slavery was law of the land after the revolution? The US govt/Lincoln didn’t free slaves till 1863. Slavery was an AMERICAN sin, not a southern one

The American Indian says hi.
The whole “losers that fought against this country” and “you don’t get participation trophies” that we keep hearing would probably carry more water if those same people would demand the removal of Indian monuments.

We all know that they lead an armed war against the United States.
Whether or no that’s treason is debatable.
But the ultimate defense isn’t “a they were never convicted of treason”
I get Where what I said was confusing.

Lincoln didn’t free any slaves in 1863. He said slavery was over in the Confederacy even though he had no control over them or their slave masters. He didn’t attempt to free any slaves in the Union.

Davis was the only person indicted, and he was imprisoned for two years. The case never went to trial. They didn’t want to risk it, Many thought he would be found not guilty and then you had those that wanted the nation to heal.

Because secession was not (and is not) illegal.
And anyone who cites Texas v. White is a brain-dead idiot.

They didn’t want to risk it,
Jeff Davis wanted a trial, as long as it was fair, even at risk of execution.

Yeah, no. Most didn't fight for the Confederacy over their love of slavery as over 95% didn't own any, it was their love for a Republic and state rights, and the desire to not have a concentrated Federal government.

Yikes.
This is a hot take.
I mean You don’t not look like a racist piece of shite.
From a Moral Standpoint that’s reprehensible.
From a logical standpoint: where Native American US citizens before we took their land?

Was he a traitor or a man who believed the colonies should be free ? He didn’t want to hurt England, he just wanted his liberty.

This is some advanced stupidity right here. Washington revolted against the British Empire because of it's tyranny.
The South left the US because slavery was on it's way out

I have yet to read through this entire thread but I know you will be accused of supporting a return to chattel slavery simply for broaching this topic.
This nation would never — NEVER — have been formed if the sovereign and individual States were told that entering into a larger Union was a perpetual compact until death.
It has taken generations upon generations of government education and brainwashing to create a citizenry so utterly ignorant of our nation’s founding history.
“However strong a Government may be, it cannot easily escape from the consequences of a principle which it has once admitted as the foundation of its Constitution. The Union was formed by the voluntary agreement of the states; and these, in uniting together, have not forfeited their nationality nor have they been reduced to the condition of one and the same people. If one of the states chooses to withdraw from the compact, it would be difficult to disapprove its right of doing so, and the Federal Government would have no means of maintaining its claims directly either by force or right.” Alexis de Tocqueville, Democracy in America.

They weren't traitors, because there never was any civil war.
The South wanted to secede, not take control, like the commies did with Russia.

How is what I said racist? I did not say anything derogatory about any race. But I’m sure that’s just your go to word when you lose an argument.
You said “when you fight a war against The US and end up a part of the US, you’re a traitor”. That is literally what many American Indian tribes did. They fought against the US and are now apart of the US. That quote is yours, not mine. So I guess you’re the racist piece of shite since by your own argument Indians are traitors.
But what about just the Cherokee, Choctaw, Chickasaw, Seminole, Catawba, and Creek? Those tribes actually sided and fought with the confederacy. Should their statues be torn down?
