Thanks for bringing this up again. I was livid when those islands were built/militarized. Nothing was ever done by obummer/biden. If anything money changed hands and deals were made in the dark.
Reading this now is just salt in the wound. It further irritates me that our intelligence agencies and Pentagon slackers never took issue with it.

There is no world war fight against chini, only some conservatives in the US, the rest of the world, and the majority of the US would turn a blind eye if they took Taiwan tomorrow, as well as Singapore and probably South Korea.
We would ask the world leaders to help and they would "condemn it" aka Chamberlain in WW2, and look for us to do something. Given our current leadership we might cut the favored nation pricing on soybeans for a week or two to "show them we do not condone imperialism".
When it happens I hope some conservative groups put up billboards with Trump and a message "I tried to tell ya".
