They are trying to paint a parallel between Jesus and the border situation.

Did he and his family flee from Judea (then still a nominally independent country) to Egypt (a province of another country, Rome) in order to avoid political persecution (government sanctioned murder) by the Hasmodian king of Judea?

That sort of thing is rather the definition of a political refugee.

It also has no bearing upon status probably 98% of the potential immigrants trying to get into this country.

Boom!

indeed. That is an awful translation of the word “tekton,” which translates best as “artisan.”

Given the proximity of Nazareth to Herod Antipas’ new capital at Tiberius, and the major construction project taking place there at the time, he and his father were probably both stonemasons working on that project.

Absolutely not

But most of what the Chruch spouts and the 4 “canonical “ gospels spew about him are total fabrications

If you base your understanding of the Christ on that nonsense you believe fairy tales

I don’t support refugees as they are being presented in the current media and government narrative.

I do support them in a biblical sense. Jesus was 100% a refugee. People being butthurt and fleeing Latin America because they keep electing socialist despots that allow cartels to run their countries does not make them refugees.

Also the group running those ads seems pretty legit and not some dumb progressive fake Christian group. Their goal seems the gospel, not universalism.

What countries did Joseph’s family transit between Judea and Egypt? I am not aware of any.

What handouts were being provided in Egypt?

I’m not talking about a time when something as simple as a wheelbarrow would have been a technological marvel. I’m talking about present day not some fable from a five pound book.

Immigrants/refugees are supposed to seek asylum in the first sovereign country they step foot in. They aren’t supposed to trek through 4, 5, or even 6 countries to get to a place where they can take advantage of tax payers and ruin hospitals, public schools, wages, job market, housing market, wage growth, and just about everything else.

It’s not that Jesus and his family were not refugees. It’s that comparing that situation to the flood of people currently entering the US is a false equivalency.

You need to focus.

The OP is about Jesus bar Yusuf, not about Jesus Gonzalez

As usual, the point went straight over your head. The people in the commercials are not political refugees by UN and international law. Call them what that are ... Illegal aliens. Therefore, your analogy to Jesus is totally invalid.

I did not draw any analogies at all. I simply responded to the assertion in the OP that Jesus and his family were not political refugees.

If you believe the Gospels to be true, he was obviously a political refugee. Do you believe Matthew to have been a liar?

So emotional that you could not even reach the final paragraph, before starting to rage-type your reply.

Sad.

You must jerkoff each time when taking a contrary position to almost anything posted on any of the boards. I almost admire the schtick. What's truly funny is your posts are often pseudo-intellectual. I'll blame the education you received.

Watching Hank get everyone's feathers all rustled over an inconsequential argument is getting comical.

Yes, Jesus was a political refugee.
No, it is not comparable to the current situation at the US border.
Yes, it's a stupid political talking point, and nothing more than an application of Alinsky rule number 4.

Focus people.
