Not sure why we are not celebrating this good news on the jobs data.

Household Survey
Full Time -71,000
Part Time +384,000
Multiple Jobs +92,000
And
A couple more “good reports” like this and no one will be arguing over the definition of a recession.
In case anyone is struggling reading the data:
The civilian non-institutional population is 331,000 higher in July than in May.
The civilian labor force is down 400,000.
The employment population ratio is down from May to July.
The “not in labor force” is up 750,000.
But somehow, we have two months of job growth.

My friends plant is closing after just opening in 2019. He said they were doing great until late 2021 and all of 2022. Closed. Done. 800 employees.

No way 500k jobs were created
87K new IRS jobs were created overnight, so yea, I believe the total number can approach 500K.
Now no doubt many of the new jobs are in fact preexisting jobs coming back online now that companies are reopening after the extended COVID lockdowns. No one is locked down at this point in time, and the country is making a return to normalcy.

They 'created' 500k jobs the same way Trump told Ratshitburger to 'find a way to get 12,000 votes'
100% projection and propaganda spin

They make gummies, like the gummy vitamins you see in CVS and Walgreens. Can’t remember the name but it’s based out of California. It’s gone tits up.

Like the old Soviet Union - had a record wheat harvest every year and no bread in the stores. It doesn't add up
That’s a very apt analogy. Every day I see a notice about a company laying large numbers of staff off, and in every case except one, it’s been tech companies, the sector that did the best during the LAST recession in 2008. I see chatter from across the Baird that ALL companies are preparing for a slowdown.

yesterday it was 181000 independent voters in Kansas voting about one issue.
no way.
oh wait there's more.
81 million voted for biden. no way.
it looks like if anything good happens with democrats its impossible for right wing pundits to comprehend.
its about you now long driver.

I just don't understand

While I agree the overall messaging is crap, I’m not seeing anything about large-scale layoffs.
Same here. Employers are hiring. I know plenty who are working hard to fill open positions

It’s more about what team is winning than whether or not Americans are succeeding. It was the same way when Trump was in office with Democrats scoffing at every positive move and saying “you see” with every negative move. It was also the same with Obama when the Republicans made every narrative about how the positive economic numbers were fake.
Partisan bullshite is killing this country. And I say this knowing full well I’m guilty of such partisanship from time to time.

This is rigged, these are Trump jobs that Biden is taking credit for and everyone knows it. Obama pulled the same move, and unemployment was 165% under him.

They’re not new jobs.
It’s just a continuation of people going back to work post Covid
It still looks like where right below the unemployment and the workforce participation numbers posted before the shutdowns
And keep in mind, in a normal year the US adds about 2.5 million jobs, so we should now be 5 million above the pre covid number.

“Created” just means filled.
Never got back to where we were. Rates have been going down monthly and jobs lag. Simple as that.
When Walmart is laying off…

"According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, total nonfarm employment has increased by 22 million from its low in April 2020 and has fully recovered to return to its pre-pandemic level. In February 2020, the last month before the COVID-19 pandemic,152.504 million in the U.S. were employed. As of July 2022, 152.536 million people in the U.S. were working."

If the jobs data is correct we’re going to see higher inflation and the feds might increase interest rates or at least not pivot. August 10 is the next CPI
Posted on 8/5/22 at 12:45 pm to Longdriver98
These are jobs that have been out there but nobody has filled them because Biden was paying these people not to work. But now these people have run out of savings and have maxed out their credit cards so they have to go back to work.
If you want proof, the sector that saw the biggest increase in jobs is hospitality. All we’ve heard for the last year or so is how restaurants, hotels and all these other hospitality industry employers couldn’t find workers.
The job participation rate, which should be the statistic to look at, it’s still abysmal.
