Loons and liars by definition.

It was once just called a sub speciality of physics. Until the grift started and all the grifters jumped in.

That's why the grifters can't wait for all the old physicists to die off and stop calling them liars and morons.

Let me explain something about temperature in terms of energy and temperature change. There is the property of materials in physics called heat capacity in units of energy per unit mass-temperature. In other words, the amount of energy in joules to raise on kilogram of mass one degree kelvin. The lower the heat capacity the quicker the material will rise in temperature.

I know climate scientist like to tout the natural frequency of the CO2 molecule as aligning with infrared frequency thus CO2 continues to vibrate thus absorbing heat even during the nighttime hours but the fact is, CO2 can only absorbs as much heat as its heat capacity allows and regardless of electromagnetic radiation frequencies.

Here is a list of heat capacities of our main atmospheric gases:

Nitrogen: 1.02 kJ/kg-K (accounts for about 78% of air)
Oxygen: 0.919 kJ/kg-K (accounts for about 20.5% of air)
Argon: 0.52 kJ/kg-K (accounts for about 1% of air)
CO2: 0.844 kJ/kg-K (accounts for a bout 0.04% of air).

Remaining are trace gases (in fact CO2 is a trace gas).

What do those numbers mean?

The lower the heat capacity the less energy you need to raise on kilogram of those gases one degree.

Now when you add water vapor to the mix as in relative humidity the ability of the atmosphere to absorb energy and change temperature at a slower rate drastically changes.

Water vapor has a heat capacity of 1.93 kJ/kg-K. But that is not the only property about water that effects the atmosphere. It is also the only gas in the atmosphere that goes through three phase changes which also take a lot more energy. From solid to liquid it takes 334 kJ/kg and from liquid to vapor it takes 2460 kJ/kg.

(When water evaporates from your skin it is removing 2460 kJ/kg of heat...that why it feels cool).

Water in the atmosphere explains the difference in the climates between Huntsville, AL and Phoenix, AZ. Both cities are on the same latitude and receive the same incidence of sunlight. Both are at the same elevation. The only difference is water vapor concentration. Huntsville's higher water vapor concentration causes Huntsville to be more temperate than Phoenix. That is Huntsville has lower high temperatures and higher low temperatures.

Huntsville versus Phoenix climate can be DIRECTLY attributed to there local atmospheric heat capacities.

This has been perpetuated initially because climate scientists realized they’d built a paying career out of it, and stopping the theory would stop the paychecks.

More recently, marxists realized they could implement wealth redistribution under the cover of climate change (see the Paris Accords), and now all politicians realize they can launder money through the third world using climate change.

If engineers used the laws of physics like the climatologists , technological development would have stopped with the invention of the wheel, with folks arguing it can only roll left, not right.

I don't know about that, but the report I looked at was one where somewhere in the thousands of questionnaires were sent out, only something like less than 100 were sent back and of those it was 99%. Which, of course, is a huge difference than what the claim implies.

Your “Science” is a religion. Actual science doesn’t decree in absolutes. It is a constantly evolving understanding of the universe and doesn’t require faking data, propaganda or dogmatic adherence under threat of censure.

They in fact did. It took some "out of the box" people to finally convince the "scientists" that they were FOS. Same case here. It is all fear mongering.

They also might need to write a paper about it and have it peer reviewed.

But of course yall would believe the one quack not even in his own field.

Do i need to be a nobel laureate to understand how funding for science works? Do you think these laureates are getting grants FROM THE GOVERNMENT, by opposing the government favored narrative?

Also, simple composition of our atmosphere would suggest that basing Earth's "warming" solely on CO2 and Methane is idiotic at best.

Excellent post. It's amazing how not a single one of those "laureates" takes into account water vapor.

Or, here's a common sense question the pro-warmers can ask themselves.

Considering Obama was a big proponent of carbon credits and imposing laws and regulations to fight "global warming", explain why the same person:

a) Has a $12 million mansion on an island.
b) Main mode of travel is via air, which produces exponenttially the amount of CO2 as the average american.

And the big one, i want just 1 of these global warming eco-terrorists to tell me what temperature the Earth is supposed to be at all times.

Just for arguments sake let's remove water vapor but increase the concentration of CO2 10 times (this is the lower level of the CO2 concentration during the biggest life expansion on earth, the Cambrian period). That is, CO2 increases in concentration from 0.04% to 0.4% and the ability of the sun to change atmospheric temperature only increases by 0.05427%.

This is how the math works:

Atmospheric constituent/percent concentration/heat capacity

N2 78.08% 1.02
O2 20.95% 0.919
Ar 0.93% 0.520
CO2 0.04% 0.844

Heat capacity of air (with no water): 0.99412 kJ/kg-K (it's just a proportional sum).

Now increase the CO2 by 10 times which requires a proportional decrease in the other three constituents.

N2 77.799%
O2 20.875%
Ar 0.927%
CO2 0.400%

Heat capacity of air with 10X CO2 is now 0.993581 kJ/kg-K

That means the sun can work a little less harder to increase the temperature of air, but how much less harder?

(1-(0.99412-0.993581))*100 = 0.05427%.

That is not a lot. When you include water vapor into the atmosphere that 0.05427% less energy required by the sun to raise the temperature of the atmosphere with 10X CO2 will be EASILY absorbed by water vapor.

Water is earth's climate dampener analogous to a spring-mass-dampening vibrations problem or a capacitor in an electrical circuits problem.
