I hope DOGE can find $300-400 billion in waste fraud and theft, that would be a start. However, it's gonna take a cumulative total of $1.3 trillion from DOGE along with reducing the size of federal government and cutting funding in all federal bureaucracies just to pay the debt service on the $37 trillion of US debt.

Computers were created to do math. I doubt AI would have a problem with accounting. It's just math, and we've had accounting software for decades. Adding AI would not be difficult.
The idea that AI can't decipher a contract is just ludicrous as well. LLMs were created from the ground up to understand how languages operate.
The other poster not trusting AI to handle DOGE tasks is just full of it. It's literally what AI and computing were created to do.

Who cares? What does it matter as long as they keep auditing and finding issues. I wouldn’t care if it said 500 billion and it was really 200 billion. Keep going. The real benefit is exposing, shutting down the conduits where money is being funneled to, updating systems, streamlining procedures, finding repeated payments, etc.
I’m sure they have contract experts on their team when they are needed to flesh out the details.

Imagine thinking DOGE should solve the national debt, which has ballooned 110x since 1970, in 3 months

I believe an effort like DOGE should happen every decade to clean up the books. However, Vivek was right, you need legislation to eliminate agencies, attack budgets, and to rework entitlement programs to get this under control.
