Our Governor is a democrat and he wanted the reimbursement from the feds so he did whatever was pushed by the left.
The fact that they never used the majority of these extra facilities across the country means the local leaders made some serious bank on Covid.
Being a former Democrat, I recognized what this was form the start. Then I really knew it was BS when I had a friend that couldn't visit her dying father, but at the same time, Fauci was on TV saying that it was OK to go and riot.
Anyone with a brain should have known at that point what this was. I know many of the left saw it, but were thrilled because now they had "power" over their enemies (you). "We can destroy whatever we want, when we want. We can go wherever we want. You, however, have to sit at home while grandpa dies"

I am sure people will say "that's what you voted for" or "and you claim to be a centralist?" or whatever stupid shite yall say, but let's try to look at it another way.
For a time no one knew exactly what we were dealing with. If they didn't take extreme actions and it ended up being a virus that killed 8 million Americans everyone would be saying "at least half of those people would still be living if they would have taken appropriate action. They should have told people to wear mask and not allow people to be together in large groups. Its almost criminal when you think about it".
This is some of the reasons we can't get good people to run for office. They don't want to deal with this shite. They have to make decisions and no matter what they decide they are going to piss people off. And the only people willing to put up with that shite are people who would do anything to have power.
If a virus comes around that spreads easier and does more damage, we are fricked. Lets just hope next time its not during a presidential election.

Some say a comet will fall from the sky
Followed by meteor showers and tidal waves
Followed by fault lines that cannot sit still
Followed by millions of dumbfounded dipshits
And some say the end is near
Some say we'll see Armageddon soon
I certainly hope we will
I sure could use a vacation from this
Stupid shite, silly shite, stupid shite
One great big festering neon distraction
I've a suggestion to keep you all occupied
Learn to swim, learn to swim, learn to swim
'Cause Mom's gonna fix it all soon
Mom's comin' 'round to put it back the way it ought to be

George fricking Floyd got 3 funerals with over 600 people in attendance while granny died alone and had to be cremated. You liberal fricks that supported this shite should all rot in hell someday!

Masks on a plane unless you were eating.
I remember going to sporting events and they'd have us all spread out and they had the ushers holding signs and shaking them at you if you did not have a mask.
So I just always had a beer in my hand and held it close to my mouth and would pretend to be drinking when I could tell they were about to start shaking and that would always stop them. A sort of Pavlovian response.

Funny. It was those of us that took care of BOTH of those things properly (ie earn an honest living) that were screwed the most by this garbage.

Wearing anything on your face and it being accepted as a mask that would contain a virus that got out of a level 4 bio lab.

Had a crawfish boil and a neighbor called the news. They set up across the street and filmed us.

Except we did know what we were dealing with... SARS-CoV-2 is just like SARS-CoV-1.
SARS-CoV-1 in 2008 caused same type of illness (ARDS) and killed the same demographic of people (elderly and people with pre-existing medical conditions) while young healthy people are mostly spared.
Only thing different was that SARS-CoV-2 spread globally, while SARS-CoV-1 only made it to South Asia.

We were f'ed in this pandemic because we followed China's pandemic approach instead of 'following the science'.
If the US had adopted The Great Barrington Declaration, we would be where we are now in the fall of 2020.

You’ll support draconian measures again.

The best for me was Christmas Eve mass that year. Went with my wife’s family.
At the end of mass, their tradition is to light a candle and sing Silent Night. No one was allowed to sign and we had to wear masks. But as soon as the song ended, everyone raised their masks and blew out the candle. I laughed and my wife smacked me
