I guess I don’t understand the issue. Aren’t all sorts of vaccinations required as you go through school? What’s the difference for Covid?

Phizer and Moderna are expected to be fully approved in a month or two, so that won’t matter. Best to just make a decision now instead of springing it on students right before classes.

The article also notes that some workplaces require the flu shot, so mandating a Covid vaccine once fully approved over the summer isn’t out of question.
