There's a difference between living to work and working to live. I fall in the latter category. I reached a contractual agreement with a company to provide a service/fulfill a role for them in exchange for benefits and pay, nothing more nothing less.

Trump's gonna make it tax free and I'm also pretty sure that's not how taxes work....

Tell that to my wife who owns and operates her multi-million dollar a year business all from the comfort of her home office. You dont know what the hell you are talking about.

As a young person I I bet I can get more work done in a 40 hour work week than you could in 80. Also you probably never worked 80hrs in your life.

In my opinion, it’s not about how many hours you clock, but how efficient you are with those hours. Can some people produce for 80 hours every week? Sure. Can most be effective after a certain threshold? No.
You're 100% correct
Very few people can actually put in 80 hours of productive work in a week over and over again.
It's mostly just pretending to work and logging hours without productivity behind them. Japan is famous for this.
Hell, very few people can put in more than 2 productive, focused hours in a single setting. After that efficiency and productivity plummets.

Any young person fresh out of college should be required to work 80 hours a week for at least the first ten years of their professional life.
I sympathize with the idea, but 80 is way too much. First off, you’ll get no more production out of 80 hours than you get out of 60. Sixty hours is a damn long week, when you consider that there is other work to be done, like mowing the lawn and fixing stuff at the house.
Sixty hours is five 11 hour days and five hours on Saturday. Any more than that is not conducive to having a family.

Hope he does, but go work more than 55 hours, it’s not really worth it

the discussion for , and against really needs to be tested against the Bell curve of employment practices, there will be very valid instances where wfh works well and lots where it don't.
But if you work in a large organization that is complex/integrated[Wallmart store and above] Managing the team effort requires team contact .
And if you get yours days tasks completed in 2 hours , maybe you ought to ask for more tasks
And if your are working 80 hours a week, maybe you ought to have a discussion with your manager about dropping low valued work

Why do so many people think this?
Overtime pay is not taxed any differently than regular pay.

While we're at it, let's get those lazy entitled 8 year olds back in the mines and chimneys like the good old days.
ETA. At my work all the old fricks that are first in the office last to leave working 80 hour weeks are incredibly inefficient and I do more in 4 hours riding no sleep from a baby at home than they do in a week. Watching them write an email or do anything on a computer is like watching a sloth eat a leaf.

Because people who work hourly are not in fact good at math in lots of cases and tax math is not easy. Lots of people think all your income is taxed at the rate of the highest bracket you qualify for.....

Honestly, I know several bars who put in hours and rake in overtime. It really depends on the industry and pay structure, etc. I also know those same jobs have a considerable amount of down time. If you are an air traffic controller at a busy airport, working 80 hours would probably kill you if not others.

80 hours a week is ridiculous, you'd just end up with a bunch of burned out workers by the time they are 35 with probably major health issues by the time they are 50...

I can't teach experience...that is earned through repetition and time on task. There is no shortcut for that Now don't get me wrong, my phone blows up all day with questions and advice which I gladly provide. This does not equate to 80 hours a week in office. I strongly disagree on being paid for the amount of time you work as opposed to the amount of quality work you complete regardless of time.
