I hate that. Here locally there’s a gal on the radio with zero discernible accent (great radio voice!) that pronounces her last name is a massive almost comedic accent. It’s silly.

I recently learned that you can only use the spanish accent when addressing the Spanish subject in a positive light.
They get offended if you don’t.
HOWEVER, if you say ‘Veenazeoowaylah’ is where the gangs came from, my woke neighbor said I was appropriating the accent in a negative way.
