I think he has more support than people are giving him credit for which is terrifying in its own right. I don't think he'll beat Trump though and he'll be too old to run again.

Luckily, young people that support him are also the least likely to actually vote

By drastically altering the allocation of resources, you are wanting to alter the distribution of power. Under a Sanders' administration, the resources and power would simply be shifted further to the entrenched bureaucracy rather than corporate interests (who at least have to be concerned about a bottom line, even if they do not act benevolently).

But you do.

Have you not read Bernie’s proposals?

You support a president who wants to control everything from housing to energy to financial institutions to banks to healthcare.

How is that not giving the presidency significantly more power?

this doesn't warrant a serious response, but i'll bite anyway because frick it.

I'm voting for Bernie because politicians, on both sides of the aisle, are overwhelmingly self-serving, immoral megalomaniacs. They took jobs whose stated purpose is to serve their constituents, and instead they serve themselves and their buddies.

I love to bash Trump because he's a fricking idiot who also happens to be a self-serving, lying, immoral conman, but he's not THAT different than Bill Clinton and Obama. I would argue that both of those guys were better people than Trump (and certainly smarter), but I don't think they entered office to help the people. They did it to burnish their own image, and ultimately help themselves.

Bernie is not that dude. His record (except for a few gotchas) speaks for itself. He wants to help people, and is genuinely perplexed at the reality that so so so many people (deep south, represent!) vote against their interests. so he's trying to fix that. the fact that a man trying to implement policies that are trying to help others get stuff like fricking healthcare is getting branded as a devil is a testament to how fricked we are as a country.

I'm not going to convince any of you of my beliefs, or my worldview, as you're essentially split into two camps: low-info people who parrot the shite they hear on far-right conspiracy sites/Fox News, or you're too entrenched in your beliefs to objectively look at other viewpoints. so it is what it is.

for the record, his policies will murder my pocketbook, personally. my wife and I are in top tax bracket, so i imagine we're going to get hit pretty hard, no matter how you slice it. but we'll live in a country where it's no longer okay to do shite like bankrupt people to get cancer treatment, so that's a good thing to show our kids and future generations.

can't wait for the "frick you virtue signaler, commie, blah blah!"

have at it.

...and not a single post included an explanation of how his policies can be afforded or, more accurately, not destroy the economy.

The adults in the room know that they can't. They know that everything Bernie wants to do ends in financial ruin.

But, hey, you can pretend that people won't be bankrupted by getting cancer. Bankruptcy will be the norm and nobody will be able to afford cancer treatment.

It will be a complete and total blood bath. Old bern isn’t going to reach 100 ev if he wins the nomination.

His fairy math doesn’t make sense even with the rosiest glasses on. The programs he is pushing for that BARELY work in tiny, ultra homogenous countries, WILL NOT frickING SCALE TO THE UNITED frickING STATES.

You are an imbecile of the highest degree if you buy into even one grain of sand of the bullshite that conman socialist frick is pushing.

Socialist deserve endless mocking and ridicule and to be made to feel like the subhuman scum they are.

you think bernie is just gonna' snap his fingers and flip the system over night? virtually everything he does is going to have to get through congress. bernie absolutely still believes in democracy

Bernie scares me FAR more than you guys.

His base is as rabid as Trumps and even less educated.

That makes for a terrible combination.

this, again, isn't a bad thing, and I hate that we live in a world where this is used as some sort of "gotcha!"

he went into public service--a career where the goal is to help people. why is it something that shouldn't be rewarded? also, why does having money mean he's a hypocrite? if tons of people had money, it would mean more money in taxes. his system is just working to ensure people who have tons of money actually fricking pay, instead of dictating the rules through lobbying and outright criminality that ensure they don't.

They do pay. More in a year than the dregs do in a decade.

44% of the country pays zero fed income tax. Why don’t you want them to pay their fair share?

You are supporting a candidate who wants all of what I said.

You can’t say that you don’t want to the presidency to become more powerful because that is literally what your candidate’s position is.

He may not get every single thing he wants, but the end goal of every one of his positions is to increase the power of the presidency.

ok that's our bet then - $50 on the general. if bernie doesn't win the dem nod, I lose and you can tell me where to send the money to

if bernie wins the general, I'll have to look for a good one that will really make a difference. instant thought was ACLU but that's a little basic. maybe SPLC?
