That's assuming the other 49 states stayed together. If Texas were to secede, I think that would be the catalyst for several other red states to follow.

Yep. Everyone would want to join us. The Southeast Conference basically needs to be a nation. I give Okies shite and I hate their football team but, politically, they're good folks. We'd have to lay siege to Austin though.

The only way that a newly seceded and independent nation can survive the USA's war of aggression is with massive foreign military support from a powerful foreign power.
The USA will immediately invade with powerful military forces any new nation that forms here on this land that we call America - UNLESS - a powerful foreign ally of the new nation can cause the USA to back off.
IMHO, the ONLY foreign power that could help a new nation would be China. China might help in exchange for a naval base and commercial port on the coastline of the new nation.
